I can't seem to find anything as comfortable as the front seats in my motorhome.

One other thing to think about is total driving effort. While my Cooper may have a bit of a harsh ride, the ease of driving far surpasses anything else I have ever driven. The biggest thing is steering effort. You hardly have to move to turn a corner and the ease with which the steering wheel moves is very light. Ever since the 90s, steering effort has become increasingly heavy, all in the name of giving steering feedback. Its hogwash. While steering dampers may mask feedback, light steering does not, but auto manufacturers are too dumb to figure that out.

If spending too much money got us into this mess, why is spending more money going to get us out.

Buy the car you want and have the seats you want installed.

They are often two different things.

Aftermarket seats like Recaro offer a lot of comfort and adjustability. If you are near an automotive swap meet or similar, there a lot of premium SUV seats removed by customizers for extravagant customers. They can be very nice and have lots of adjustability.

Back problem? I have that as well. And my wifes Honda Odyssey is best for me on longer 2 hrs + trips. It has been better than Lincolns, 300C and others larger cars I have driven. I do believe a firm seat is better than a soft plush one. And just like a mattress at home firm is better there too. You can always add lumbar support in the way of heated 12V pillows and other tricks out there.
To bad GM made the seats in my motorhome. They look like full size Chevy van seats of that time.

By far the most comfortable car I've I've owned is my current pick-up truck in the signature block blow. Lumbar support, power up, down, forward, back, back reclines, lumbar support, HEATED! (and my wife bought a 12 volt vibrating pad also! Now that's style! Great ride! By far the best I've ever had in any vehicle!

Try out a Ford Edge with the heated leather seats.

My DW has a Volvo S80 4 door sedan. Has all of the above mentioned including a surprising large trunk space and a good size gas tank capacity--has a non turbo 6 cylinder engine with more than enough power and acceleration. A primary reason we bought this car is the interior room. Our 6'4" son can sit in the back seat--plenty of head room and his legs have plenty of room--he can sit in the front, driving with plenty of room as well----And it is really a neat car with a great safety record---Lars

Never owned one but think you'll find that Volvo's are recognized for their chiropractic friendly seats...

Check out the Mercury Marquis, I have found them to be very comfortable on long drives.
