Do RV parks charge for cats? I have been asked at many if we have pets. Dogs I can understand having to pay a fee (maybe), but birds, cats, etc. Why in the world would an RV park charge for a cat?

Why not a cat, it's a pet too isn't it. The same as my snake.

Why would a fee for a dog be appropriate but not for a cat? A cats special so they should not be charged?

It's pretty hard to imagine an RV Parking Lot that could somehow stretch and claim that they are inconvenienced or have to pay extra money to ANYONE because one of their guests (or all of them) had a pet that stays inside their RV 100% of the time. Now if you let the cat, bird or fluffy the alligator run around out on your site....that's a different story.

We travel with 2 dogs and 2 cats and last year 2 turtles. When they ask I tell them 2 dogs and 2 cats, some charge extra for the dogs, but I have never been charged for the cats or turtles when we had them.

If someone tried to charge me extra for my indoor only spoiled cats (they don't even drink tap water, they drink distilled), I'd keep right on rolling. Nobody but me EVER cleans up after them, and they don't bark or bite-any park that wants to charge for a cat they'll never even see, well, those are not the kind of folks that need any of my money!

There was quite a discussion here on this forum not too long ago about this very subject. I said I would never declare to the RV park that I had a cat. And then a RV park owner said he wanted to know because in case of a fire he could tell the fire department who and how many people and pets registered for that site, in case of a rescue. My question to that was "do you think the fire department would stop at the office and ask those questions before even going right to the fire and making an attack and or rescue?" My answer is NO they would not. So even with his theory, I would not declare an inside cat if I had one, or a bird in a cage, it is none of his business in my opinion. It does not impose any burden on the RV park owner. Just my opinion and offered as such. I know others might not agree with this, but they can also have an opinion and that is allright with me.

Never heard of anyone charging for cats and I would never claim an indoor cat.

Now if you have a barking cat that is a different story you will probably have to declare it.

When they ask if I have any pets, I always tell the truth,"yes three cats". The answer is always the same,"cats don't count". I also have a sign on the door,"Don't Let the CATS out".
