98% of americans say "OH SH**" before going into a ditch off of a slippery road.

The other 2% are from New York and they say "HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS SH**!"

Down here where we're from, we experience problems because we take turns about who has the snow plows and salt trucks from one month to the next.... and woe to us if it snows on the month when it's not our turn to have the snow equipment

Quick...go buy your 2 weeks supply of bread and milk!

I think the grocery chains and the metro nitwits at WSB are together on this to get the milk and bread to sell out. If I am going to be snowed in for days these things are not one of the primary items I will be looking to stock up on.

Doesn't matter where you live the first snow storm always brings out the idiots. I still find it amazing so many people wreck with only a few inches on the ground. A couple years back I saw an idiot going well over 70mph on the snow covered highway he spun around a couple times & jumped the guard rail.

Sensationalism! The weather channel is the worst, but the locals play it pretty big as well. Most times they are dead wrong about the severity of "storms". But hey, they gotta try to get viewers somehow. Just think how boring it would be otherwise.

We are currently in San Antonio and have been watching the local tv weather forecasters. Don't worry about it, they are the same everywhere!!

We are from the Seattle area and were home last fall and winter for the first time in 4 winters. We did have our coldest winter in 20+ years with snow. We always laugh and make fun of the weather forecasters there about the first snow in the mountains, rains and rising rivers in the flood areas, etc.!! Believe me, they are all alike! Besides, in the Seattle area, the local weather forecast portions of their newscasts have the highest viewer ratings. I'm assuming its the same in most local markets.

Opps, have to go pull the chocolate chip cookies out of the oven!!

Well, the Great Blizzard of '09 has come and gone.
As I expected, it was pretty much a non-event.
We had about an inch or so of snow - most of which melted before the temp dropped below freezing. Last night's low was 25 and it is already back up to 30 at 8 am.
Saw one snowman that was about the size of a garden gnome, and of course there was a rash of idiots on ice on the roads.
I did get one Christmas Card photo, shot it from under a tree- didn't want that stuff falling on me!

Let's see .......... lived

Chicago area 22 years - worst winters I even lived in; lake effect

Wisconsin (Appleton & Madison) 7 years - fun in the snow with the kids & I was A LOT younger

Minneapolis area 25 years - was fun while the kids were there but really got old in a hurry. As asked, "would you like to retire at 55; all we will give you is your health insurance?" I told them to get out of the way I was heading for the door!

Lived in CO at 8000 feet on the dry side of the mountains (Estes Park) 8 years - winters are better but those winds and the cold! Little snow though.

Been here south of Tucson 20 miles for 7 years - love the snow! We can see it on the mountain tops; just where it belongs! (But we drive up for our annual "Show the dog snow" day).

Been there - done that. Done that is good.

Merry Christmas. ( Love the <(:-{} )

Well I don't think that you're nuts if you live there, but maybe the poor sods that snowbird down that area are!
They would be better off coming out here to southern Vancouver island where we haven't had any snow so far this year and most years we don't get any!

Never miss an opportunity to walk on the grass.
