The national weather service has issued a winter storm warning for Southeast Texas for snow accumulations of one to two inches today and a hard freeze (+25 degrees) overnight.
So far, as of 11 am, we have had flurries that lasted for about a half hour and then quit - nothing at all for the last half hour and the temp is still 40. Supposed to get colder through the day with more snow this afternoon.
THE WEATHER GUESSERS ON LOCAL TV HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR A WEEK! IT HAS BEEN THE LEAD ITEM ON EVERY NEWSCAST.
We only get snow every few years, a little more often with Global Warming, but even for a native-born local like me, this is over the top.
Oh well, Merry Christmas anyway. <(:-{}

we've seen the same thing here...flurries mixed with rain for about 1/2 hr. or so. Now just light rain again. We're about 50 miles SW of Houston.

Yeah we do think you are nuts, My wife and I are originally from norhtern Ohio. We moved to Cincinnati OH and found that must be the line for people not knowing what do do with snow. Get an inch and everything shuts down, they even canceled school one time because snow was forcast for the next day, it was not even snowing yet.

It is really funny

We're at -10 C today expecting 6" of snow with 25mph winds. At least it will be gone by April.

Bob Couch-
yes I think your nuts to stay there. So lets trade places for the next 3 months?

I am just across that dangerous northern U.S. border in Canuckland.
Only 1/4 mile north of International Falls, MN (often on your national news channels as the "icebox of the nation"

Its a balmy 22 degree F today (almost the same as your predicted low) and about an inch of snow on the ground.

Just think how bad it would be if not for Global Warming.

One evening in a Tucson RV park the local weather/news people were talking about the possible snow overnight and how the plow/sand trucks were ready and don't be surprised if schools would be closed the next day. The next morning there was about an inch of snow and, sure enough, schools were closed. It was all gone before 10 am. We Michiganders just laughed and laughed.

I lived in Farmington NM for a short time, and a snow storm there shut everything down. The problem is that no one is prepared or knows how to drive on it, and even if you are prepared and know how, you can't get past those who are stuck.
Usually our first winter storm (in Alaska) will put a lot of people in the ditch because they haven't changed to winter tires yet. It doesn't seem to matter how late the first snow comes, it's a surprise to some.
