There is a couple who has been out of church for a while (their adopted son was accidently killed a couple of years ago) ... they have just recently started back to church and have been going to ours :-) ...
Thanksgiving Day they left the house and went into town to visit with her dad. When they came home, their home was engulfed in flames. Total loss. They have 2 girls - one is 9, one is 13.
Our church is reaching out to them in ministering with clothes, foods, necessities.
Yes, they had insurance on the house - but many of us know the ways of most insurance companies (SLOW!!!).
We took them out to lunch yesterday after church - and of all the "stuff" that they lost, including 2 dogs, the one thing that brought tears to Marie's eyes was ... a state bell collection that she had been working on for over 20 years. She didn't have all 50 states yet, but was getting close. She had them on display in a special china hutch. Reminded her of their travels, and special occasions, and even of friends and family that had brought her bells from states that she had never went to.
Prayer request ... please keep this family in your prayers. They have been thru a lot of storms the last couple of years. She almost died when CJ did, and he found comfort in a bottle of alcohol. God has really worked a miracle in their hearts just in the last 3 months! Pray that the enemy will not be able to take that work away!!! That God will show Himself stronger and more real to them as they try to put their home back together.
Thank you .

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Part of my post got deleted ... ??? Which I don't understand why - but then, I am not a moderator or an administrator. I want to apologize to the board and to the moderator/administrator who deleted a portion of my post. I never thought that my question would cause an offense worth deleting. I am sorry.
At this time of year - Christmas, a time of giving and sharing - I just never thought that something so simple, honest, and easy could ever be offensive. I'm sorry.
Anyway - we are in the process of contacting family and friends across the US to ask them if they would send a bell to Marie c/o me - we want to wrap each one with a note saying who sent it, and then present the box of bells to Marie the Sunday before Christmas.
This is a dear sweet lady - who has a boatload of grief and tragedy these last couple of years. We just wanted to so something kind.
Again, thank you for your thoughts and prayer.
