I picked up my first TT last week, and after the walk though I asked where the spare tire was.
He said they don't come with one, its something you have to buy. OK, then I asked where do you put it. He said you need to buy a bracket to clamp on the bumper, or throw it inside or the the back of the truck.
Is this with all TTs? I would think the spare tire is a pretty important thing to have and should come with it. Is there a reason
the manufacter doesn't think its important enough to include it?
Just a new guy scratching his head.... The TT is a Gulf Stream Kingsport.

That's how my first travel trailer was too. When I purchased the next one, I made sure to get it included. Some dealers automatically include a spare, and numerous other items you need. I think when I bought my spare tire and mount for my first trailer it totaled around $150 or so. Not a big expense, just kind of a pain in the rear since there are so many things you are getting to be ready for your first trip.

My 5th wheel trailer came with the spare tire mounted under the frame.
It was mounted just in front of the first axle closest to the pin box.

It is fairly common for a spare to be an option on a TT. Whether or not a dealer routinely orders this option, depends on what his usual customers expect: lowest price on the sticker, or most complete package.
There are some brands or model lines for which a spare is standard equipment, whether you want it or not. These almost always have a specific place to store it.
It is one of the things to ask about before the purchase.
Don't feel too bad about it, a lot of $200,000 to $500,000 motorhomes are delivered with neither a spare tire, nor a tire storage provision.

Thanks for the replies. It isn't at all the price, it just seems its a safety thing. Some unsuspecting family could be boondocking or on a back road out of cell phone coverage, have a flat, and be helpless. I think the manufacter should raise the price to whatever it takes to have this necessary item.
Kind of reminds me of a car show I went to, a fellow had a '50s Corvette, and had the origianl invoice. The oil filter was an add on option!

The first Chevy V8's did not have a oil filter, it was a add on option.

Spare tires can be on a bumper bracket,We have ours there, its a better location than hanging from the bottom of the trailer.

Some do, some don't. My expensive toy hauler did not come with a spare but my little Aliner did. Now the toy hauler manufacturer is out of business and the fancy chrome wheels are not available. Only painted steel wheels.
