Newbie travelling first year from Ontario to Texas. We see Passport America, Sam's etc....for discounts off campsites. Which is the best to get? Don't want to have to buy all of them. Thank you!

We use Passport America while traveling coast to coast. I would suggest you go the their website and look at what is available on the route you plans to take. Then look to see if there are any blank out dates that will effect you. Generally a couple of half price nights will pay for the membership dues.

Passport America will have the biggest discounts, but seem to be much less common than Good Sam. KOA & Good Sam both offer 10% discounts on member CGs; probably there are more GS than KOAs nationwide. (We have both of the latter memberships.)

IMHO, if you are traveling cross country, most of the membership "clubs" will pay for themselves. CampClubUSA is $39/yr pays for itself with 3 uses. RPI, PassportAmerica, KOA etc. do the same thing. Camping for two weeks will pay for all the above and you will have 50 weeks for free...that said, if you are one that loves itineraries and plan your trips carefully, check the campgrounds you plan to stay at, look for discounts, the do the math. If you are going to save, buy them, if not, don't....good luck......Dennis
