Hello,
We went to a dealer in Pontiac, IL to look at some TT. We saw one TT that we liked, it is a 2010 (NEW) Catalina, by Coachmen, 28BHS for 15,500 (their asking price, not the MSRP). I am assuming I could get them to come down some more, but by how much more? In fact, I kind of tried to talk, but they seem to be avoiding the negation part. I was not going to buy it today anyway because I wanted to check with you about this unit and what is the general % that the buyer should try to aim for from the MSRP.
We are also looking at used units, but wanted to check out the new ones first to see if it is a good time to get one considering the bad economy.
Any input is appreciated.

I don't know but I would never be afraid to "insult" a seller by making a much lower offer. However, the question is how much to offer because they just might take you up on it. I don't think 80% of sticker price would be out of line. Also, you might look up the NADA book value of a 1 year old one just like it and see what the value is and offer just a little more. Keep in mind that they usually ask an inflated price so as to negotiate a trade-in so their asking price may still be high in today's economy.

I have read some folks posts here and 25-30% off MSRP seems to be the ticket.
Check it out on NADA and then add delivery charges and a small profit and you will be in the right range if they are wanting to move inventory.

The Better Business Bureau also has a DVD that covers the same subject and Chuck Woodbury has an ebook with similar advice that can be instantly downloaded from www.rvbookstore.com.
Better to pay a little more and be satisfied with the product once on the road.

I have purchased 2 new RV's in the last 3 years. The first one I got for 30% off of MSRP and the second one I got 28% off MSRP and it was for a 2010 trailer they had to order from factory. Wasn't like it was one on their lot they wanted to dump. The RV industry has much higher inflation when compared to the automotive industry. Good luck!
