Sorry but we don't PLAN them at all. Reminds me too much of my working years to have a definite plan that we would then need to adhere to. Have to admit that we USED to do some planning when vacations were a week or two in length though.

We had to book our trip to Frontier Town, Ocean City MD more than 12 months in advance in order to get a spot for a week with two other families. Even then we didn't get sites next to each other, but close. That's the oly time we planned so far in advance.

Last week I booked Christmas week 2010 at the Orlando S.E. / Lake Whippoorwill KOA . I got a site overlooking the lake. We booked Halloween 2010 last March. ReserveAmerica is 6 months out for state parks in MA, so I will start booking them just after Thanksgiving.

I do look at the refund policy for each campground before booking though. The refund policy for Tropical Palms Resort, Orlando is $10/day. Since the MH will be stored in Orlando, flight prices may be an issue. IMHO, $10/day is way too much.

You are just about right. Part of the fun is researching and booking the campgrounds over the winter. We camp well over 100 nights a year.

You bet! I'm a planner from the word go, and already have some reservations made for next June. Probably will make other reservations over the winter for next fall. In order to get sites we enjoy at some state parks (including Wisconsin's) we often have to reserve 11 months in advance. If you feel more comfortable doing it that way, then by all means, do!

If I want to stay in a certain CG/site and it's a popular CG or a peak time for visits you bet I have reservations.

Minimal planning is my credo. When I decide to go somewhere, before I leave, I do a little research on things of interest to me at that location. While enroute, if something strikes my fancy I will stop or detour for that. That sometimes ends up changing where I eventually end up going. So far this has worked for short duration trips. I hope it works when I begin semi-fulltiming at the beginning of the year.
