He lost his job, he knew things were tight and six months down the road they would be broke. They made a lifestyle decision, one they already were dreaming of, sold it all and hit the road.
Article is fair, and good, the title is biased. But, they need to grab your attention.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but this story wasn't in a newspaper, it was on an internet news site. Does that mean no one reads the internet anymore?

Still read the newspaper, one of Warren Buffetts papers. Guess I'm old fashion. Get up and dress, pour water in the bunn, and go out to get the paper. The local school gets the paper when we're away. Then I pick up one first thing in morning. News Hound.
Oh, don't give them more than two years. Wait until they have to start making repairs on the road. But then they figured two years anyway.
And you need to read the part about him having a run in with a security guard in a parking lot about camping!! It could end up getting interesting watching this guy learn.

Don't be so hard on the guy. What was he to do? He lost his job. He had to sell his house and he made a decision that made sense to him in this economy.
I wish them luck and I believe they will make it fine!

$300/30 days=$10 a day. I would really like to know where they are staying for $10 a day with a rig that size, add gas and insurance. I can't see how they're doing it.

That $300 a month figure has me chuckling. I'm just a seasonal RV'er and I gobble up way more than that.
That's a 50 amp rig if ever there was one and I don't see any solar on the roof so where's he getting 50 amp power on $10.00 sites? Running a genny on anything, gas, diesel, propane is gonna cost a bundle. Fuel and insurance for the truck? Propane for the furnace or stove? Health insurance for the kiddies?
Not denigrating his choice as that lifestyle will teach him and his children a wonderful set of life's lessons but I doubt he's doing it on $300 a month vs $2K as his net result.
Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!

Well, for starters....sell the expensive house and buy a cheaper one (rv's ONLY depreciate). Put your kids in school!! These folks aren't even home schooling, they're learning ONLINE!! Then, if they really still want to "see the world", buy a tent. And $300 per month? Impossible!

Fuel and insurance aside, after all those expenses are incurred where ever you travel or reside, there ARE low cost places available. Nice ones too. Here's an example and one of my favorites. Granted, it's based on a senior rate which is predicated on years, not number of posts.
