We use the Waterstick softener. Can be laid on its side so it fit inside the heated service bay. Can be seen at http://www.watersticks.com/p.htm. We recharge about once per month. Uses table salt. We also have a reverse osmosis system from Whirlpool. Used for drinking and cooking. Have to turn it off when traveling as it will empty the fresh tank and fill the gray very fast.

We use the WaterStick also. It works as advertised.

We use the WaterStick also. I was really surprised how much we like soft water. When taking a shower the soap lathers up better and the fixtures, walls and glass stays looking nice longer. We always wipe down the shower after use but with the WaterStick we don't need to clean it quite so often. We run a ceramic filter ahead of the softner. We camp about twice a month and regenerate every two-three months. Regeneration use regular table salt and takes about 15 min. Most of the time is spent waiting for the salt to do it's thing.

I've had a Travelsoft for about six years.......I recharge it every month and love the way it works........No more spots inside the shower.....I'm sure I'm adding years to the life of my dishwasher, water heater, commercial coffee maker, washing machine, 12volt pump and icemaker....

I usually hook a hose directly to the softener to wash the coach and my car.....No spots and I just let the coach or car dry on it's own without wiping the surface down with a towel......

I used to flush out my water heater about every six months and I would get about a one gallon pail full of junk out of it every time I flushed it....Now I don't have to do it at all.......The last few times I flushed it after installing the softener, nothing solid came out at all.......The water softener removes all of the lime and magnesium from the incoming water, so there's no need to flush the water heater any more......

The best part is a clean shower and the showerhead never clogs, plus we use less soap in the washing machine and the cloths come out cleaner and softer without fabric softener......

I probably spend 35 bucks a year on Solar Salt in sixty pound bags...

The TRAVELSOFT is well worth the money and the time it takes to recharge it once a month......IIt's got to be one of the best after market gizmos that I've purchased.......

***** If you're on a low salt diet it is not a good idea to drink the tap water inside the coach........An ION REPLACEMENT softener replaces the lime and magnesium with sodium, which means the salt content of you tap water will go up.....It's not a problem with us because we drink bottled water and we have a special filter on our icemaker and commercial Bunn coffeemaker...These filters remove the extra sodium that the water softener generates *****

Do yourself a favor and spend the 300 dollars or so for this unit.....I haven't had to do any maintenance on it in the six years I've been using it...Eventually I'll have to replace the medium that causes the chemical exchange in the unit.....You flush out the five pounds of little gold beads inside the unit and buy five pounds of new medium......I think that when you have to replace it the cost will be about 40 dollars......They say the medium lasts for the life of the unit, but if it ever had to be replaced, it's no big deal, you flush out the old medium and pour in the new stuff through the same opening you add the salt......No brainer.....
