We have a septic system that was pumped 13 years ago when we bought the house. During that time I have used Charmin exclusively and never had a problem of any kind.

We use Charmin in both our septic system and RV, and have for many years. Never had a problem with either one. When I tested Charmin Ultra in a 5% ammonia and water solution it broke up into small pieces in under 10 seconds. When our failing 50 plus year old steel septic tank was pumped a couple of years ago in preparation for replacement, there were no signs of any undissolved TP buildup.

I would put my money that you have something killing your bacteria rather than a TP problem. Unless the TP has something in it that bacteria can't eat. Your best money for a septic system is Rid-X.

Hubby and I decided years ago to treat our home system the same as our trailer. We don't put tp in the toilet unless necessary. We toss the paper in the wastebasket and empty it daily; no odor...and our septic system has always been problem free. Whatever works for you, right?

Excuse me, but just when would it not be necessary?

You are excused; it would not be necessary to flush the paper when used only for urine...the rest is self explanatory...yes?
