This is the fold and collapse CW one:
CW Ladder
It is not too long and only takes up the space of a 2x4 as someone said.

I don’t understand the number reference, but he means that there is a fully collapsible stepladder (complete with a bucket tray, etc - not just a simple ladder as in the previous post) that, when folded, takes up exactly the space of a 4” x 4” piece of wood by however long it is. I used to carry a regular step ladder, but now have one of those fully collapsible ladders 7” tall. It only uses a tiny fraction of the basement space that the old step ladder took up – mine fits into brackets tucked right up under the floor in a pass-through compartment – you don’t even know its there until you need it.
It erects quickly and when erected it is free-standing, very stable and sturdy. Highly recommended.

If you want to be able to reach the top, I'd look at the 17' fold-up at Walmart.. When used as a step ladder is about 8'.. We carry a 7' that collapses to 4"X4"X7' from CW with a tool top on it..

Funny this came up. I just bought a GPL ladder. The 7 footer which folds down to about a 4x4 and slides right into the basement just fine. I paid a little under $200 bucks for it. I just love the compactness of it, very sturdy all things considered. Just do a web search for "GPL ladder"

I carried a Camping World ladder for a few years - the type that folds into a four inch square. One day the wind blew it over and it busted into several parts. So I bought a Little Giant at a flea market and it is the best ladder I have every owned. I just fold it up and slide it in the basement.
My brother-in-law bought a Little Giant "knock-off" at Home Depot and it a very good ladder too.

Telescoping ladder.
It's solid, and much like a ''real'' extension ladder when deployed. It takes up little space in the basement. It doesn't weigh too much, maybe 25 lbs. or so.
On edit:
I also carry a three step step-stool for reaching the tops of windows etc. The telescoping ladder is for getting up on the roof when needed.
Adondo I sure like the looks of the telescoping ladder, what's the cost?
