That and a good set of pliers.
these 2 and a good washer-preferable the softer rubber, not the hard plastic ones. the better it compresses/forms to the hose end, the better the seal.

I guess I thought all washers were the same. I guessed wrong. Will upgrade those for sure.

I put on a quick-connect a while back with an O-ring. Seems to work well, since it's heavy brass and hard to deform. The hose ends on the white hoses seem to deform easily. The quick-connect at the faucet to hook up the pressure regulator sure makes life easier. I don't have to fiddle around with the regulator to get things unscrewed.
Just a thought.

The crimped fittings on the male end is where mine ususally leaks. Where mine fastens to the camper is already at an angle. I just assume it is the Wal-Mart hoses I buy. (No flaming of Wal-Mart intended.)

i use a 45 rather than a 90 elbow for my city connection.. some pliars to attach firmly never had a leaking problem.
i also put my regulator on the hose bib to reduce weight on the city connection (there is a theory that pressure can build up in the hose and you are suppose to put the regulator at the city connection point).

Quote: I have found that white tape (I think it's called "plumbers tape") works very well in stopping leaks at the connections.
Good idea in a pinch. It is called Teflon Tape. Need to thrown some in my toolkit.

Pretty cheap too. But mine always seems to leak either from the crimped part of the hose, or the connection itself (the washer connection). Great suggestions

I have quick-connects on all of my hose fittings. "Y" connector on hose bib to pressure regulator (stays connected to hose), hose to filter, filter to city water inlet. Also use them on my gray hose for connecting to my Tornado washers. I've found the brass ones to hold up extremely well, don't leak and you don't have to worry about pliers to attach or detach them from equipment.

Look at then ends of your hose on the inside of the coonectors. You will see that most now are very sharp. This doesn't allow for good mating surfaces. I bought some bress hose to hose fittings for each end. They have much better surfaces for the conections.

I bought several of the quick connects with the "O" ring and love them. I have about 7 or 8 sets and use them on all water connections from the faucet to the 5er including the water filter. Also use them on the Quickie Flush and Flush King.
