We have been towing an HHR for about a year now with no problems. We really like it. The only complaint I have with it has nothing to do with the towing..it is that it made of tinfoil. I guess that helps with the weight. We have found that it scratches and gets little dings quite easily--still love it however. We have people ask about it at the campgrounds and see quite a few of them following MH's. We are using a Blue Ox system. I think you are going to like it also.

You know, I think it is pretty much redundant concerning the type of toad to be pulled. If they have all the necessary towing equipment (base plate, tow bar, lights, brakes) and is weight matched to the MH, I bet just about any and all toads will pull very well indeed. Especially with a DP as the MH, most toads can't even be felt by the driver, hence the need for a camera/monitor to insure it's still back there.

I love the looks of an HHR and have considered having one for a toad. Don't know about their reliability, but I have read that Consumer's Report gives them a pretty bad rating.

Tow that HHR and enjoy.

I never read Consumer Report! We had a 2007 Chevy HHR never had a problem at all. We just bought a 2009 Chevy HHR and are towing it behind the Mobile Suites. Yes its set up to tow, base plate, tow bar, lights and braking system. As said don't really know its back there. We do have a hard wired rear Camera and keep a eye on it when rolling. The HHR is so simple to prepare it to two. Just remove the # 8 fuse put it in netural and turn the key to on and away you go. We did a lot of research and the Chevy HHR was heads above on the Pro's and Cons. Weight was a factor in our decision and it had to be towable four down. It works great for. GM makes several cars that are towable. There are many small cars that are towable, but we had to have room for our furr kid "Montana" and most small cars didn't have the room in the rear. Good Luck on your decision. GBY....

Just finished a 1000 mi. trip towing my hhr and towed great. the only problem I found was it is heavier than my previous towed ,a VW, and I borrowed a BrakeBuddy to assist in braking.Had problems getting the sensitivity correct and it would set off the BB at strange times and circumstances.. Not the HHR's problem just thought I would mention it.. Also it does sit low to the ground and does pick up road rash..

Hi, we got ours the last of May and love it so far.. Great milage(2.2 engine), gas tank is alittle small, seems like I'm aways at the gas station filling up, but it will due for now.. Don't even know it's back there when towing.. Ours weighs 3250# full of gas and no people.. Hope it's as good to us as the '05 Malibu Maxx was.. Would have gotten another one of those, but they quit making them.. Since this is our only vehicle, we trade about every 4 to 5 years..'05 Malibu had 50,000 driven miles and another 29,000 towed miles..Good luck with yours..

Jim, what did you come up with to put the #8 fuse on a switch?? I have been thinking about doing that, but wasn't sure how or what to do so it didn't cause problems..Thanks..

MSCAMPING

I hope this makes sense. Pulled #8 fuse out. I took a wire and went from one leg of the fuse panel to one leg of the hanging fuse from the other leg of the hanging fuse to one leg of a on off switch from the othert leg of the on off switch to the remaing leg of the fuse box. I used crimp on connecters to the wires. For the one that goes in the fuse legs I took a connector that is used for a screw and cut on leg off so it would go in one leg the fuse box.

I drilled a small hole on the kick panel that covers the fuse panel and installed the on offswitch there. I got my on off switch from radio shack. The fuse is 2 amps

Cody47 did the same thing in a little differant way on this forumn also. My way no need to cut the leg on the fuse ect.

Send me an e mail and I will give you a call if you wish

good luck

Jim

Thanks Jim, I think I got it.. You just make a harness with a fuse in it and a switch on one end that you mounted on the outside panel and put the other ends into the fuse panel.. Sounds good..
Mike..
