In my motorhome I was pulling a ladder out of a compartment with the compartment lights on. The ladder was stuck in another item and I had to pull hard to get it out. While doing that, it caught the DC light, popped the cover off, and broke the bulb. All of the compartment lights turned off at that time. Then I noticed that my "battery switch light was out. Messing with the switches by the door, I realized that if all 4 items were turned off at the switch, my battery light would come back on. The four toggle switches by the door are: compartment lights, step on/off, 1 living room ceiling light, and outside light. Those 4 things don't work at all now. And if I turn any of those switches on, the battery connected light turns off. I turn that switch back off and the red light comes back on. And, as I stated, none of the 4 items energize. I can't imagine how breakin a DC bulb could do this. Since I have no wiring diagram of the MH, I don't know where to start troubleshooting the problem. But I need these things to work, so I'm hoping someone here has an idea of what the ultimate problem may be. Any thoughts .......?

I'm not a DC expert but I would start with the broke bulb. I would pull the fixture and check the wires. It sounds like a short to me.

First thing I would do is remove the broken bulb. When the ladder hit it that could have been the short if the touching filaments to ground were not. Especially if it is a metal ladder. I then would go to the DC fuse panel and replace the blown fuse there. If that put power back on the switch, and the other lights work, I would replace the bulb in the empty socket with a new one and expect light. When I had light on the subject again, I put the cover back on.

I agree. It sounds like somehow when you broke the bulb you drove the positive and negative side together... It might even be the filament in the bulb has touched the side somehow, or the bottom has contacted the side. Pull out the fixture and isolate the two wires and let us know if that fixes the problem.

Have you considered the possibility that the ladder was hung up on the wire feeding that circuit? Turn the switch off that feeds that light, replace the fuse, and the other parts of the circuit should work.

I should have checked before posting. You were right!!! It was a blown fuse. It's fixed now. Thanks.

If your coach has an Intelletec Battery Control Center look on the bottom for one or two post type circuit breakers.. Push UP HARD to re-set. You may have popped the main breaker, this will kill all 12 volt battery power (Should not however affect converter power) the converter also may have fuses on it's output.
