klm wrote: I can't help you with any insurance advice, but wanted to pass along my thoughts to your sister. What an awful intro to FTing. You didn't say, but I assume that they are OK, just property damage? I hope this all gets straightened out as quickly as possible, so she can continue with FTing and taking care of patients that need her. She will be in my thoughts. Kathy
klm, thank you for your well wishes. Everyone is fine, just found out last night that the truck is totaled. They have 2 Harley's that I brought back to Des Moines and they are being repaired. At this point, they just need to find out something about the camper. I'm assuming I will just have to let her take mine to AZ where she will work as a traveling nurse. My sis is from North Dakota, so just upstairs from you!

" did see that my topic said "HELP" right? I'm trying to get help for my sister and she is as honest as they come. She told the agent what her needs were and this is the policy they were sold."
If that is the case, then she has a case against the AGENT, not the insurance co. And if you feel like I am "kicking her" as she is down, you read my post wrong, or I type the words wrong. I have no feelings either way, just the facts, just the facts. That is all that counts when you get into situations like hers. But yes, I feel bad for her and her family, but unfornuately that will not help her in this case.

Another area for Fulltimer's to check. FTer's Insurance also covers contents. Normally, that's covered by your homeowner's policy. You're out of $$$$ if you don't have adequate coverage!

I just talked to my sis..I guess she contacted her agent in August to tell them she would be living in it, so this will definitely be an issue with the agency.

Tell them not to mess around and waste time. They paid their insurance, they told the truth. They have nothing to hide. Get a good lawyer. Insurance is a business. No reason to feel bad about an accident. It is time for the insurance company to pay. Period.

What state did she purchase insurance in? Whatever state that was she needs to contact the AG and State department of insurance. File a complaint and investigate her remedies via civil litigation. She was per your voice misrepresented by an agent of the company that makes the company and the agent but culpable. She should contact an attorney to detiremine her full rights to damages.
She has my best wishes and hopes for a speedy and full recovery.

Is this a final desicion or is the insurance guy just trying to talk them out of the claim or into accepting a lower payout? They may not have a formal bonus plan and it may even be illegal, but adjusters who pay out less are looked upon kindly by their bosses. Stand firm, but I would hold off on antagonistic moves like hiring a lawyer until they make a desicion. Of course it is reasoanble to ask for and hold them to a time line for a desicion.
I would talk to my agent and have them go to bat for me. If your sister informed them of the change of status and they didn't recommend a change in coverage, they are at least partly responsible.

Sluggo.......fulltime insurance does cover 100% comp damage and is the only insurance that fulltime insurance covers. Liability is only while moving down the road. Fall on your neighbors front step on his fiver and if he is a fulltimer, try collecting IF he doesnt have liability insurance extra. There in lies the difference in premiums for fulltimer vs homeowner insurance. Why do weekenders write seperate policies on their rvs? Comp coverage.
I haven't read your policy, but I certainly have read mine. My fulltimers' insurance is the basic liability insurance I have, and if you fall on my steps, it covers you. Period. It also covers contents, as a homeowners' policy would if I had a conventional house. In other words, it is insurance on the trailer, and it is also insurance that your homeowners' insurance would provide were you not a full-timer.

Sluggo, I do not wish to get in a battle of the smarts with you but.... most insurance policies have a limit on liability coverage while parked. Liability coverage is limited to a certain percent of your total coverage. Most policies have a "stated" amount that they will provide liability coverage for. I suggest each individual check their policies to see just how much they can be covered for.
I could give you many examples of fulltimers , who did have problems with the liability limits when sued.
Many of us carry "umbrella policies" just to protect our assests in the event of a loss that exceeds your limits. Rest assured a million dollar lawsuit is verrry common nowadays.
Try loosing your fiver, trailer, or toad and it hits a car and kills 3 people. Yep, you got liability coverage, perhaps 75,000 max on a standard policy.
They aint a gonna settle for that if you have deep pockets. And deep pockets is in the eye of the beholder.
If my post saves one person from losing everything, it is worth the effort.
