Our 05 Terry has two long "comb" gears (long straight rails with gear teeth) which move the slide in and out. They are driven by two round grears located at each end of a drive shaft. When the slide is out the comb gears are out and exposed and easy to get at. When the slide is in the comb gears slide inside a square tube so they are protected from road grim when the trailer is being towed. I would like to lubricate this assembly but I have seen others mention that the lubricate should be non-sticky so road grime does not get stuck to the gears and thus defeat the purpose. I've never been sure what type of lub would be non-sticky? Seems to me all lub has to be somewhat sticky in order to stick to the gear itself. When I was under the trailer winterizing it, with the slide in it struck me that since the comb gears are inside this square tube piece while towing, then getting road grime on the gears should not be an issue and regular grease might be OK. Does anyone out there have a similar slide system and if you do what do you lub it with? Thanks.

From Lippert Components Owners Manual- "The Lippert Electric Slideout System has been static tested to over
4,000 continuous cycles with out any noticeable wear to rotating or
sliding parts. It is recommended that when operating in harsh
environments (road salt, ice build up, etc.) the moving parts be kept
clean and can be washed with mild soap and water. No grease or
lubrication is necessary and in some situations may be detrimental to the
environment and long term dependability of the system."
A dry lube such as "Slip Plate" dry graphite spray or a Dry Teflon spray such as "Rem-Lube" works great!

X2. Slip Plate or any "dry" silicone spray will do. I made the mistake of using a "dry" petroleum based gear lube on mine, and wound up cleaning the "racing stripes" it left on the carpet the first time I retracted/extended the slides.

Mine was making a lot of noise so I cleaned that long gear with a wire brush. Then I wiped the tube with a cloth with WD40 on it to get the grim off. After that I used a dry cloth to dry it.
On the Lippert Website there was a bulletin about lubing those gear packs. After all that it was a lot smoother & quieter.

Mine were all rusty and slide would not move. RV dealer told me to apply penetrating oil and it worked very well.

Can you describe "slip plate"? Is that the name of the product? I use silicone or teflon lube on my slides and they work well but often make squeaking noises while in operation, no doubt the rubber wipers making most of the noise.

I suggest taking a long hard look at the two round gears (pinions)mounted on shafts that the two long racks "comb gears" ride on. The pinion is fixed to the shaft (mounted on a square section of the shaft so it can't rotate)and the shaft rotates in the end bushings. The shaft rusts and sticks in the bushings. These need to be lubricated with a thin viscosity penetrating spray lubricant. If they freeze up, your slide room will not go in or out easily if only one freezes up, only one side of the room will go in or out. If penetrating oil won't free them up you'll have to replace them or take the pinion and shafts out, dissasemble and then wire wheel the shafts to get the rust off them, lube them with teflon spray lubricant and reinstalled them. I would not lube the rack gears or the pinion teeth, just the pinion shaft and bushings.

Thanks for all the helpful posts. I'll look for the Slip Plate product. I will also inspect the pinion gears and lub them as suggested. I just put my slide in for the winter,, sad day.
