Both have their positives and negatives.. Your money, your adventure, your call.

Amen to that; not asking for others to make the decision for me. However it's a good idea to get input as others may bring up points that I may miss in my list of pros and cons. For example Brad's post is a nugget of gold.

That and the stories of how others dealt with their RV needs is always interesting and helps create a sense of the RVer community.

We have both. We like to take the ATV & RUV out into the boondocks and the TC is perfect for letting us do that. It also allows us to just take off for a couple of days w/o the headache of towing the trailer, but anything over 3 days DW demands the TT.

Between my honey and me, we've had a Class A, TT's, a large fiver, and two TC's. We prefer the latest TC, but down the road for longer trips upon retirement, we might add a TH. If you're an "off the road" kind of guy, a TC might be for you.

I strive to eventually have both. The TC is optimum for hauling the boat but envision some long trips without the boat where I'd like the trailer or even some small lakes where I could have the truck topper boat on an overhead rack on the truck while pulling the trailer.

We had a Lance camper and then went to a Bigfoot trailer, which I always thought would be my ideal camping vehicle. While we loved the Bigfoot, we found we didn't like traveling with the trailer. We tend to be more travelers than campers and the trailer limited where we could go. We went back to a Lance and couldn't be happier. It really does depend on how you like to travel and what works best for you.

I eventually plan to add a TT to my family of RVs, but also plan to keep the old camper. My reasoning is simple:

The "Camper" is for camping (i.e. Fishing, backroads, BLM Land, US Forestry, etc..)

The Trailer is for "RVing" (i.e. Cross Country travel with kids, KOAs, etc..)

Though, I do have a dream to drive the camper around all 50 states, but shy of winning the lottery or a sponsor or two, it isn't likely to happen .

Last year, we had a 28' Sunnybrook, tt.
Then we started using our 8.5 Shadowcruiser slide in. In 2009, we used it on a 3 person, 2 week Louisiana trip, on a 4 week, 3 person D.C. trip, and on a 4 week 2 person Louisiana trip. This in addition to some weekends.
Wife says that there's no need to go back to a tt or motorhome. No insurance, no license, little maintanence, quick take-downs and set up, bathroom is always with you, very maneuverable for those quick pull-ins at antique shops. 4wd.

Downside is storage, living space, height to door, no shower, crawl-up to the upper bed and water capacities.
But we've learned ways to live with all the shortcomings.
Seems like the one constant about my 50 years of camping has been "greener grass on the other side", so we will probably go to something else a few years down the road. For now, this works well.
If I were you (and I've been there), I'd buy a good used one. Mine came from ebay and 400 miles away. Look for a lighter model because some of them can hit 3000 lbs. Mine weighs 1600 empty.

Its like living in a one room house, ala the truck camper. If you prefer 2 or more rooms in your house, go with the TT. Plus you can have room for 4 or 6 people. I relate to truck campers as living in a telephone booth, as they are much smaller than any room in your average house.

I believe the queen sized bed in my camper is the same size as your 5ver . . . amazing what they'll put in a phone booth these days.

I think you'll find most of the TCer's don't enjoy the hassle of hauling a house behind their trucks. The modern camper provides all the ammenities found in most RV's while enabling access to parking lots, all gas stations, any camping spot that fits one vehicle and back roads and camping areas that others only dream of.

If your one who pulls up to campsite and likes to hibernate inside, the TC wouldn't be your first choice, in my opinion it would be your home with an HD TV of the outdoors.

I'm with you Mooney!

How many other types of RV's can you even get Twin 34"X80" beds, 6'10" headroom, and 6'7" shower headroom in.
So far most larger RV's I've seen don't have the room that’s important for me that my Lance phone booth has.
TC's open many new camping locations as well.
Could you spend the night in a 5er here.
