Hello all,
I have an AC unit on top of my starcraft trailer and whenever its on, its drips water ( I know this is normal )onto the roof on my trailer. Is that water supposed to leak onto the roof and run down the rain gutters in the back or is it supposed to have some type of hose attached to it? This is my first pop up and i am unsure of this situation. Thanks~!

It just runs off the top. No hose needed but not a bad idea.

it's working properly. The more humid it is the more it will drip.

I made a gutter out of 2" PVC to help divert the runoff water away from the canvas. It is especially useful when using the A/C and the camping is otherwise dry. It gets rid of the need to wipe down the wet canvas or open it back up when I get home and let the canvas dry off.

I suggest NOT adding a HOSE---even if you can do the mod.....UNLESS you check for bugs, etc., chances are that hose will clog sooner or later....don't know your A/C make/model, but some of them are designed so that the fan sprays water on the coil for additional cooling....check yours to be sure before you fool with it!!!!

On my Carrier AirV, I looked at how to add a hose, but the base plate does not have a lip to contain and channel the water. There are multiple openings in the base plate that just allow water to fall onto the roof all over. So, your best bet is to:

level (actually, tilt) the PUP so that water off towards the street side, and the left or right side.

My A/C actually sits towards the road-side of the roof, which is crested, so it run towards the backside of the PUP, even when all else is "level". I then have the tongue jack up a degree or two to direct the water to run off the left (when outside, facing the door)/rear side of the PUP. No, it doesn't affect the fridge.

Water always flows to the utility pole hookup area.

That's where I put the PVC gutter to keep the water off the canvas. Getting the gutter to work right is still a work in progress, to date.

We had a Starcraft before our current Coleman and appreciated the front and rear gutters on the Starcraft. All I did was use a piece of string from the gutter to the ground. The water follows the string away from the camper. One piece of string can go from one side, through the gutter, and down to the other side. This leads the water away in either direction (as the wind direction varies). Just throw the string away when breaking camp.

I use the PVC "gutters" on my Coleman, but sure miss the string.
