Total newbie here, so please be gentle. We're looking at an Elkridge that is supposedly a 29' model, but the actual length is 34'. I know lots of campgrounds have length restrictions -- am I right in assuming that they want to know the actual length?

TIA for any answers!

34' might be tight in older parks and you will need to be careful in some gas stations.

I'm pretty sure that they would want the actual length, not the "model" length that the mfgr. puts on their brochure!! After all, it's your RV that will be parked there, not the brochure!!

Yeah, My is the same as are most RV's. I have been to 32' limits and did fine. Nobody has taken a tape to it, but they have looked at the model number next to the door which has 29 on it. Welcome and enjoy your new RV

Campgrounds are all different so there really is no answer possible without knowing the campground in question and asking THEM what they want. OR you could tell them what YOU believe they want and will rarely have a problem. In 40 years I've never seen anyone with a tape measure hanging around at the check in counter.

We have good luck with campgrounds and we are 42' with the ramp up. You will be fine.

They want the actual length. It's not just for site length, sometimes the roads in the campground are too narrow/winding for bigger rigs.

It's also helpful to know your total length when hooked up, tow vehicle and all. Many state campgrounds let you reserve sites based on the site length, so knowing how long you are in total lets you know if you'll have room to park the truck in your site.

We've got a 34 ft fifthwheel (total length 52 ft) and there have been very few campgrounds we haven't been able to get into; you should be fine!

We're part-timing now, loving our cabin (fifthwheel) on the lake/at the beach/in the mountains/close to the city.

I tell them I have a 32' 5er although it's called a 29 footer. If a site has minimal length the campground owners will tell you where or how to park your TV so you don't block traffic.

Has to ge the actual length...the brochure model length would be no help.
