Clark County will be opening it's shooting range in the northwest part of the valley in December (2009).
They are looking for volunteer hosts (15 hours per week) to stay in a nearby site that has:
covered canopy, 50 amp service, water and sewer hookup, concrete pad, picnic table, and a BBQ grill. Also: laundry and shower facilities.
You also have telephone and cable if necessary for very long term.
This is being handled by the Clark County Dept of Parks and Recreation. (702) 455-8200.
Johnny T, I know this should be in workcamping but this is the widest read section of RV>NET. Thank you.
Hey guys, this is real!!

Wait a minute...I was there during construction and sound reduction was a top priority.
You won't be on the firing line or downrange.
Cut out the derogatory remarks!! This is the real deal or I wouldn't have posted it.

Not having been there to see the layout, I'd have to say I'm curious about the gunfire noise too. Yes, it does sound like a sweet deal though, so thanks for posting it.

This shooting range will be a crown jewel, a 5 star gun enthusiasts range, designed by some of the best Shooting Park Design teams in the World. It took the public taxpayers 24 years of hard work to get to this point. It will be the Western United States premier gun range, on 2900 acres! And the way it was developed and built the nearest home will be 1 mile away from the park!

"The National Association of Shooting Ranges is a professional association of shooting ranges. They are the leader in shooting range management and operations, and have established a "five star" program for recreational shooting ranges. The Clark County Shooting Park has been designed to meet and exceed this "five star" level. As such, we are proud to endorse the following "Statement of Principles" for the Environment Management of Shooting Ranges."

Since over 1/2 of all Nevada residents own hand guns, this is a great thing for gun enthusiasts, a money maker for the Nevada Taxpayers, and a training ground for Police and Law Enforcement agencies all over the world.

Wonderful opportunity for the right RVing couple with a penchant for firearms! I would take this opportunity in an instant if I was ready for fulltiming!

Having moved from Las Vegas 2 years age I think I am familiar with this range. If I recall correctly it is on the highway to Red Rock state park. A very pretty area with beautiful mountains to the west.

The work 'FREE' has more than one definition I suppose.
Would really like to stay for 'free' in a Vegas casino some time, but the comps are too costly for me.
