I have a small (3.7 CF) freezer and I am "hoping" that there might be a way to use it while boondocking. Is there anyway that I can? I do have a on-board 7000 genny, on my MH, as well as an "outside 1850 genny". I hope to boondock about 60 mi. from a large city, where I can stock up on meat etc.
Is it possible?

As long as you have fuel for the generators you should be fine. You should be able to shut the freezer off during quiet hous if you don't open the door.

No problem as long as you're not camping next to me. I'd HATE to listen to your generator when I'm boondocking to get AWAY from noise etc. Good luck / skip

i take a 5 cu ft freezer with me on trip to texas ,and only plug in at night. nothing melts till we get there. just lid closed when as much as possible ,should work out with a couple hrs running electric.

Hi John,
Buy a extra battery then use a inverter too run the freezer then use the genset to recharge the battery's. Or buy a solar 130w PV, about $257, that will keep up with your battery charging. Much more efficient.
I would make sure your freezer is a manual defrost as a auto defrost uses alot of juice that's not needed. I would also line the outside walls, top & bottom with 2" styrofoam, not in the compressor area. Add a external reading thermometer.
If your camping next too me, then I've been known to run off a couple hundred rounds in the 44mag at 5am, if'n it's safe too do so. I figure if you can like your genset noise, you can like my 44mag noise or move over 10,000a or so.

John, I guess you already own a small freezer .... probably one that is designed for home use to run only on 110V AC?

T-Bone, if you have a magazine that holds a "couple of hundred rounds",,,,,,,,,that must be a heck-of-a-gun you have. LOL In all seriousnous, I would ONLY use the genny between the hours of 10 and 7. Believe me, I would NEVER inconvenience anyone around me intentionally or unintentionally.
