Unless you are going on some of the northern roads in Alaska, all roads around Fairbanks and south, down to Kenai, are just fine, no problems for a fiver. But like you, I would rather have a smaller tt too in the extended trip. The other option is to fly into Anchorage/Fairbanks and rent an RV - MANY people do this!

It is certainly possible to take a long trip in a little tin can -- as long as everyone gets along really well. I love our Fun Finder, but are you sure that an ultralight is up to the challenge of going to and from Alaska?
Anyway, if you want to read about our latest month-long excursion, see the link below -- we were sorry that we had to go home!

Have fun, my husband and I are not crowded when we are in a small space, some people find ten rooms too small. It is up to you.
Get your morning clothes out the night before so you are not both trying to be in the same area at the same time.

Is it possible to rent a small RV for a weekend and see if you like it?
I love our small trailer, but know that small isn't for everyone.
Recently, Ive seen several posts about how much people are enjoying the relative ease of a small trailer after years of hauling around a gigantic thing.
Whatever you decide to haul - have a wonderful trip! A month in Alaska sounds fabulous!

If it were me I could not afford to add $8000 up for a trailer just to make the trip.
I think I could drive and stay in very good motels for the $8000 you would spend on a trailer.
But thats not what you ask, Last year 10 couples took their 10 small trailers to alaska none over 19 ft most 16.
all had a great time I'm sure you too would enjoy the trip.

I have the 18FBS with a sofa slideout. Plenty of room for two and lots of storage for a small trailer.

Took our 16 foot A frame to Alaska for 5 wks. Yes, its tight & yes, it was right for us. Easiest set up & take down for our many moves. When we checked in one CG, the office lady said she likes to see small campers stay with her because she knows its good people & they can get along with each other! You can do anything if you know you don't have to do it forever. We had a great time.

We travelled across USA this summer for 8 weeks and also live in our 18ft FunFinder on a lot with a small cabn that doubles for a living room.
We had a 30ft motor home, and decided to pull a small trailer with our Dodge Caravan. We love it, but if we had a larger engine would be pulling the next size up. For anyone buying new, look at the new 18ft with walk around bed.....great, but we like the bunks for the grandchildren.
Look around before buying, we did and liked the FunFinders. Ours is a 2006.

What sort of mileage are you folks getting that are pulling the 18ft TT, and what do you pull them with? Thanks!
