My batt. tie down straps broke in the M/H before we even got home with it new, so after replacement and replacement again I built the batt. hold down with treated wood, bolts to hold the batts. no problem again..at least this is what I did to my m/h

I experienced the identical problem with my '06 Seneca 35GS. I replaced the Interstate RV/Marine batteries with AGM batteries. These are dry cell batteries. No more acid spills. No battery strap failures. Much better battery and very clean. I used Odyssey AGM batteries.

I have a Four Winds and the straps it uses have a hook on one end to fit into slots around the edge of the slide out tray. When I added a battery I had no luck finding such a strap at places like Home Depot. I got mine through www.strapworks.com. Maybe an expensive solution, cost $12 with shipping? With them everything is custom, I ordered a 3' x 1" polypropylene web, metal cam buckle/motorcyle cam, rounded flat hook end. Here is the cam strap pick list.

I just installed these for $6.32 to try them. We're headed out on a 2,500 mile trip soon -- I'll report back if any problems with them...

I just inspected my coach batteries today ('06 Seneca 35GS) and noticed one of the straps broken.

When I was inspecting mine prior to purchase I found the coach batteries were secured well to the rack...but the rack had broken free from the chassis frame at the outer supports.

Back from our trip. Straps are as tight as the day I installed them.

We got that strap setup direct from our RV manufacturer. It worked great until the battery acid got on the buclke and ruined the spring action. I cleaned it up good and got it springing again, but it does need replacing for sure.

I have a picture HERE of my batteries strapped down, but it doesn't show the buckle itself. But you can see the general strap design.

My main starting batteries on my 34SS were "strapped" in under the passenger step with a metal bracket. I found that the steel rod on the forward side was making contact intermittently with what appears to be a fuseable link on the positive lead. It was clearly shorting out to the batteries and it finally killed both of them. I plan to replace with either marine battery mounting hardware or web of some sort. I'm really surprised Jayco (or would it be Kodiak?) placed the metal battery tie down so close to the positive terminal!

On a plus note, Costco didn't even blink when I brought the batteries in, they simply handed me two brand new ones without even testing the old!
