Under tank on right side are 3 wire harness connector pairs. Disconnect the 2 wire one and swap the grey and black ones. Turn key on for 10 seconds minimum. There is a switch that detects belt deflection if the belt deflects too far it will trip the switch. The switch is inside the right side plastic motor cover. -easy to inspect. You should check the belt as they do need to be replaced now and then.
The problem I have is the 10% ethonol in gas. It has been eating the carb o-rings in all my small engine stuff.
If your quad runs funny, clean and inspect the carb good. ESP the hidden jet inside carb body next to the main jet.
I am in upper 40s and just like you have no need for serious speed. The Prairie fits that bill perfect. It will take you places you don't want to go. Just pull that yellow lever when terrain gets gnarly.
The 360 is one of the few machines I have not regretted buying. Everyone told me to get one w/more power but for me that's not what it's about. The 360 is a keeper. The only thing that could be better in an IRS, as I am riding in areas where max speed is 3-5 MPH a lot of time. I call mine, w/affection the "mountain goat".
Let me know if you have other questions!
Good post and I'll 2nd on keeping them.
Every ATV has its' issues. Read-up on your machine. (Kawasaki/ATV forums.)
I've worked on all of them, just about every brand will run for over 6 years with a little TLC .(mud puppuies not included)
I have a 10 year old Foreman (3000+ miles) we call it the Pig but it should be called the Tow Truck as it has brought many dead bikes back to camp.

Keep you current ATVs and service them regularly. If you want new ones pick carfully and don't buy more machine than you need or one of the big over-weight ones.

Here's our 01 Rubicon one month ago; 10,000 miles and 1067 hours and we've spent less than $400 in repairs.

I wish I could ride that much. Mine is a yard dog with a few trips to NF areas.

Bring it to Utah, we are very ATV friendly.
We live in Piute County, the smallest county in UT and we have over 3500 miles of ATV trails.

We have two Kawasaki's. And only light I know of is related to the belt adjustment. ANd it comes on automatically at a certain mileage or if it needs to be replaced. We've got more than 2,500 miles on each of them. We have friends with all sorts of brands and have good luck with most of them. It's like vehicles - you can't judge them all by bad luck.

Hey guys.
We still have them. Still not real happy with the wife's quad.
The flashing light is NOT the check belt light. That one you reset with the connector swap procedure.
Instead, what is flashing is the 4WD light. At a rate that indicates there is trouble with the actuator on the KEBC (Kawasaki engine brake control). This actuator puts a load on the belt so the engine compression holds you back going downhill. With our little downslopes here in the Sierra, that was one of the reasons we bought these particular quads.
I have pulled the actuator and did the checks in the service manual for the KEBC flashing and found nothing wrong. The actuator works, voltages and connections are per the manual, there is no sign of binding or stickiness...
In short, everything looks good, except the light keeps coming on.
I've read that some guys "fix" the problem with a piece of black tape over the light.... Believe me, I'm starting to see why.
I'm about ready to swap quads and let the wife ride mine, while I take the one that keeps flashing. I'd feel better if it went out on a downhill with me at the controls, rather than the wife.
Sam.
PS: we just got back from our deer hunt, the quads hauled out two deer for us...

(Thanks for all the input)
