Several months ago, this topic was bandied around. I took the census job based on info I picked up here.
Happy to say I have now fulfilled my contract and can report that the job was interesting and somewhat intense at the outset, but settled down a bit after the first couple of weeks.
I earned enough to cover a few nice trips and all in all it was worth the effort.
They'll be around again next year and I wil consider it.

We have a couple friends who have been doing the same, in other areas of the country. Definitely a good job for retirees, part-time workers, etc. Glad it went well.

summutt, I just finished as well and it was a great 10 week project.
I worked as a CLA in QC. I especially enjoyed the variety of work my position afforded. I look forward to returning in the fall for the OLQ canvassing. It's my understanding that OLQ will only be 4-6 weeks.
Happy to hear you finished and that it went well for you. I did a follow up to the original post a few weeks ago.

Yeah, I was a CL for the largest district in the state. I logged over 7K miles. They're after me to come back in the fall as an
FOS type, but I haven't made up my mind. It'll be cutting into my travels.
