Im always laughing at the posts and the blogs that are so angled towards the "older" full timers.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I am a single mother of a wonderful little 8 year old, and won't be saying "goodbye" to my grandkids, I will be saying it to my parents!

Currently, we have a trailer, and are planning on selling that this spring and looking for a Motorhome that we can comfortably live in (me, my son and our little puppy).

After that, I plan on doing a few mods to the motorhome (to make it liveable), and then will put the house up for sale and use the equity for that to launch my full-timing career. Enough of sticks and bricks, time for some adventure.

Most of the folks I talk with are quite shocked that Im planning on doing this so young, but it's a dream and you can't put those dreams on hold for the time you want to retire.

I learned that a long time ago when a few of my friends passed away at a young age, and never got to live their dreams.

I just wanted to let you all know that younger (well, younger than 60 anyway) people are also interested in full timing, so please don't forget about us and I totally look forward to meeting some of you around the campfire!!!

So put me on the 2011 list, and will see you then!!!

In a world full of people, only some want to fly,
isn't that crazy?.....(Seal)

We bought our 1st camper in 1987 and took off fulltiming with 2 preschool kids. Sold the house and bought the TT and truck. Was the best thing we did. Traveled for 2 years, I finished my school, and landed a great job just as the oldest was ready for kindergarten. Youngest is now 16, and soon as we are done getting him off to his good start guess where we will be living again, yep in an rv. It is like living on vacation. My best job offers came from the cold north, to fulltime up here just wasn't an option. Some couldn't believe what we were doing, but sure worked out good for us. I say go for it.

2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. sounds good, but I wouldn't want to be home-schooling a 10yo by myself.

I started fulltiming at age 51 (just turned 53). I am single. I am pretired (not retired, just quit work early). I became a fulltime RVer after I became a fulltime caregiver for my now 90 year-old mother. My mother is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's Disease and we have a pretty good life together. I don't think that I want to live in one place ever again.

Good for you!!!! Don't listen to the "nay sayers". And don't wait one day more than you have to. There are no reruns on today. Good luck and Happy travels.

Go for it! Many wonderful memories are built around doing things that are a little offbeat or unusual. Your son will have experiences that will serve him well all his life, as will you. See ya out there!

Actually I have done some research on that, and you can Cyber School with a child over the age of 10.

Unfortunately my son is slower than the other children in his grade, but not slow enough to be considered "special needs" so that is a bit of a quandry in itself.

He does not learn as easily or retain information as readily as most children his age, so he's not your typical cookie-cutter school-aged child.

I believe that this experience will benefit him in more ways because he won't be compared to other children his age or pigeon-holed into a special class due to his slow reading skills.
I have no problem "teaching" my child because for the most part, they only really learn for a few hours a day anyway. Attention spans are usually pretty short.

But I really think it would be neat to say "okay today we are learning about the Grand Canyon- oh and there it is!".

Life skills are more important to me than book smarts.

JMHO of course.
