30AMP or 50AMP Question?

I want to install a receptacle at my home next to where I park my 5th wheel. To my understanding on a 5th wheel, the reason for a 50AMP service is if the 5th wheel has two air conditioners. If it has only one A/C, then 30AMP is all that is needed. So my question is, if you are using this receptacle for parking at home the 50AMP is really not needed and a 30AMP will do just fine as long as you are not running two A/Cs. Is this correct? Would this also be true if for some reason in the future I bought a Class 1 MH or would a Class 1 MH need the 50AMP? Thanks,

RE: Tethered my new phone to laptop and it works GREAT!

Nice I wish this was allowed with my Iphone, The "official" rumor is that AT&T will enable tethering this September. Your iPhone must have the new 3.0 software installed.

RE: Wireless internet problem in home not RV

I would suggest you go with an aircard after you find out which provider has the best coverage in your area. I had/have HughesNet and was really mad when I tried an aircard and found that it was twice as fast(yes, as in two times as fast) as HughesNet was in my location. Don't need to spend a fortune of money and no need to set up all of that equipment. If the aircard doesn't work for you and you think you want HughesNet, please PM me and I will give you a great deal.:)

RE: Digital TV questions

Pretend that you are standing with your arms straight out. Now your face should be looking in the direction that the signal is coming from. So pretend that the wings on the antenna are your arms. Now you get the idea? I do not have the Wingman because I have satellite and do not use the antenna very often. Thinking about getting the Wingman anyway. Most of the reports that I have read and benchmark testing I have seen indicates that it is probably worth the money. Also, it is a snap on installation. No tools or brains needed to install. Good luck,

Aircard Question?

Does the type/model aircard modem you use effect your download data speeds? The reason I ask is I currently have a Verizon USB720 modem. If I upgrade to the newest/latest/greatest aircard will it make any difference in my download speeds? I am currently grandfather in with unlimited usage and do not have the 5G usage limited. I believe that if I get a new aircard, Verizon will want to start a new 2-year contract and of course a new (to me) 5G limit. Can I buy a new aircard without a new contract? Or, should I just leave well enough alone and be happy?:h

RE: Lippert Electric Slideout Problem

There is power to the switch coming from the battery for both the "in" and "out" leads to the switch. I did not test the switch while the switch was set to the "in" or "out" position. I'm gong to have to come up with a jumper wire or something to make that connection. I will try that next. The owners manual says to check power from the battery to the switch first. Then check power to the motor next. I was hoping for a solution to the problem before I start remover the belly cover to get to the motor.

Lippert Electric Slideout Problem

Had a nice weekend trip and everything went fine. Got home to offload the the 5ver and went to move the main slide to the out possition. Nothing. Not a click or sound whatsoever. My thought is that a fuse has blown and I check my fuse panel and nothing is stated as being for the slideouts. Found the Lippert instruction manuel (almost useless) and it only mentions the 30 amp fuse at the battery. My other sideout is still working and the landing gear is still working so it can't be the battery fuse. I'm sure this is an electrical problem and not mechanical. Any thoughts or ideas? What am I missing? Don't want to remove the under belly to check the electric slide motor until I am sure there isn't a fuse somewhere that I missed.

RE: Hot Trailer Wheel

I know the dealer you are referring to. I believe their posted price is $125 per axle to repack wheel bearings. It could have changed by now but not by that much. You must have had some other work done also. A local NAPA dealer (Milford) has a counter man that is/was an RVer and knew the exact bearings and seals needed for my previous trailer and had the parts there. Check out NAPA if you ever try to do the job yourself.

RE: mp3/iTunes, etc.

A couple of suggestions for you. Google Blitzsafe. They make adaptors for factory radios so that you can use your iPod. They are rather expensive, but work very well. Google EOS Wireless. This is a box unit that will play your iPod and give you a second wireless speaker that you can use anywhere up to 300ft. It also allows you to input an audio source (radio, cd player, etc) so that you can use it with other equipment. I have both of these products and am very pleased. Hope this helps.

RE: smartphones ?????

Most of my friends use the BlackBerry and they all seem to love it. Myself and a couple of my friends use iPhones. If you are like most people and do not want to switch to AT&T (that was hard for me because I had Verizon and was happy with it) then I would recommend one of the BlackBerry models that are offered. This is based upon what most of my friends use and like. If you don't mine making a switch to AT&T, then I would say iPhone hands down. Just my 2 cents worth.

RE: What is purpose...

I'm just wondering if they replaced the antenna with the satellite dish because the HR book tells about the batwing antenna and nothign about the dish. BINGO! I think you have your answer. This was the first thought I had while reading this thread and then I got to your post. I find it hard to believe that any, maybe a few, 5th wheels would have came standard with a satellite dish back in 2003.
