RE: Replacing Clearance Lights

replace them with LED's as they draw less power and are generally brighter.
You may want to consider aftermarket lights that are larger in size and therefore will cover the area of the older lights.
Something like this one maybe?.....

RE: need ignition wire for my solenoid for new charging system

Well I bit the bullet and drove to ford. They pointed out a charge wire for the rear trailer plug that I could tap into and not upset anything. Thanks for all the suggestions. This is a great source of info.....
But then the question is this... is the trailer wire always energized, or only energized during ignition on?

RE: Can't justify the expense of a new camper!

WOW..... $40k for a truck camper? must be a camper made in one end of the country and the dealer in the other end of the country, meaning that have to mark up the price to account for a huge delivery charge.
I've been looking at Lance and Arctic Fox campers and the only one even close to 30k was a 11+ AF.
Some people use their rigs, and the purchase makes more sense, but it's mind boggling that some folks spend that much and use it maybe 15 mights a year.

RE: 2007 S&S 9FBSC - Recaulk or touch up/fill in ?

For the roof, use Dicor self leveling butyl rubber sealant. RV stores carry it too.
BUT, when you seal the spot where the roof membrane wraps over the edge and goes under the wall trim (where the gutter is on the side walls, or at the front or rear), use the NON SAG Dicor.

RE: 2007 S&S 9FBSC - Recaulk or touch up/fill in ?

Many RV manufacturers use the OEM version of the ProFLex RV. I know for a fact Arctic Fox and Lance use it. The Geocel factory is in central RV manufacturing area of the US.... near Elkhart, Indiana.

RE: When tires look like this are they shot?

I would also invest in tire covers. Some cracking is done by heavy sun exposure.
Ditto.
My tires had the same thing happen, even though they only had 20k miles on them... sun/age killed them. WHen I replaced them I bought size 2 RV tire covers (LT 245 75R16 truck tires)

RE: LED tail lamp assemblies

Some LED's require a resister installed so that the flasher will work.
Better route is to go to your auto parts store and get the "electronic" version of the flasher that the chassis requires. forget the resistors, unless the flasher doesn't solve the fast flash or no flash problem.

RE: LED conversion questions

If tail/turn signal lights are converted to LED, you should be able to find an "electronic" version of whatever flasher is used on the chassis. Most auto parts stores sell the standard flashers as well as the "electronic" version, some of which say right on teh package "for use with LEDs"
I got these Bargman tail light conversions
These are the preferred marker lights

RE: Brake Control Setting for 2008 D/A

Start low and dial up the gain setting until you get the braking action desired.... It's hard to say "start at x number" and go from there because someone may have good trailer brakes and someone may have bad brakes... so if the guy recommending starting at 5 happens to have worn brakes, and your brakes are in good shape, you might try 5 as a starting point and smoke the trailer tires when braking the first time.

... the DRW doesn't make any difference and does not get in the way.
Until you try to park it at the mall while shopping on Christmas Eve.. LOL

Like said before, check with store management.

RE: Amp gauge install.

Get a Xantrex Linklite or LinkPro. it will do all hat and more.
Or search Ebay for the earlier model unit - the Link 10.
Current shunt for the B- cable, then a set of small voltage and current sense leads and it's done.

RE: I need advice about the Droid/Verizon

The fee version of PDANET give you access to secure websites, such as online banking, etc.... the "free" version give you normal browsing capabilities for general websites. So if you "need" access to secure sites, then buy the pay version.
Just follow the steps (prompts) when installing it and it will work fine.
It gets updated now and then, and the phone will give you a message notification. If you update the phone end, then you have to update the computer app too. It happens often enough that it can be a nuisance to do it everytime, so I only update every few weeks.
You don't have to pay the verizon "terthering fee" to use PDAnet, all you pay for is the normal "data" plan, and like mentioned before, the pay version of PDAnet if you chose to buy it.
THe program is AWESOME!

RE: Propane bottle security project

I'm surprised NL used a lock on that compartment (original?)
My inpterpetation was that the OP added the lock after he bought the camper.
Finally got rid of the lock on my propane bottle compartment door (a major no-no). It was quick and simple "keeping the honest people honest" solution at the time but not a good idea from a safety standpoint.
Friends on mine always take the bottle OFF their rig during the winter time.
The local RV storage lots recommend owners that store their RVs there do the same.
