New AGM batteries - winter maintenance charging

I'm getting some conflicting information on the proper winter maintenance for my new pair of AGM batteries for the TT that will be stored on plywood in heated garage. The manufacturer says they can be stored for up to 6 months, but another family member of mine says in order for them to stay in primo condition they need to have a float charge on them to keep them fully charged all the time. Any thoughts?
If the float charger is the way to go is the Battery Tender worth the extra money (compared to cheap float chargers I can buy locally) and if so, can I get by with the Junior model to put a float charge on the pair of batteries wired in parallel or would I need the Plus model?
Thanks for your input on this.

New AGM batteries - can I relocate inside?

With these new AGM batteries the 1st main difference is their size. I currently have 2 Group 24 deep cycle that I am replacing with 2 AGM batteries. Instead of having to get new battery boxes and having the battery mount area rewelded to fit the AGM size I wondered if I can relocate these into the storage area under the bed that tilts up? I have seen that there are ventilation and gassing specifications for my batteries when they are being charged, but it seems common in other posts that others put AGM batteries directly inside.
If I can locate them into the storage area mentioned would it be recommended to build a separate box to store and secure the batteries? I also considered (and read in another post) to use foam gasket under the bed frame to help seal the storage area from the inside of the trailer.
