RE: Ohio Rallies for 2010

Anita, here's my chili recipe...
Brown hamburger with onions, drain off grease, add a whole can of Red Gold tomato juice (Indiana grown tomatoes :) ), and a couple of cans of diced tomatoes with green chilis, a big spoonful of chili powder, a can of red kidney beans and a cup of cooked macaroni.
That's what I'm having for supper tonight...
Mmmmmmm.....
We have a big pot of homemade chicken vegetable cooking now. It has all the usual stuff and these little round white "things" mixed in. I asked the "chef" what in the world these were and she spoke italian/french to me. "They are acini di pepe" :E
What could I say, but "OK"....:h:B
OK!!! Now that's what I'm talking about.
FOOD!!!!
Now there's something I can sink my teeth into!

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2010

While I personally did not read the previous postings that were subsequently deleted by the monitor, my DW did tell me about the general discussions.
When growing up my Father told me, "There are two things you don’t discuss in polite company; religion and politics."
It appears we are starting to cross that line again.
Let’s get back on track and leave the emotional issues out of it.

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2010

For those who might be interested in visiting the North Carolina shores just north of Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Carol and I went exploring RV Parks yesterday.
Carol and I stay near the town of Shallotte, NC. There are several barrier island beaches along the coastal in the area. Three of these beaches are; Holden Beach, Ocean Isle and Sunset Beach.
While there are a few RV parks along the inter-coastal waterway, most have permanent sites with few transient sites available. The exception is a KOA park within a few miles of all three beaches. The KOA Shallotte/Brunswick Beaches park is a really nice facility; http://www.koa.com/where/nc/33177/
Link: NC KOA
They were very friendly and offered 15% discount for groups of 6 RV’r or more. Of course this time of year there is little activity at the any of the parks, but during the warmer seasons of the year this one looks the best.
So if you should ever be interested in a quieter part of the Carolina coastal areas you might consider the KOA Shallotte/Brunswick Beaches.
Stay warm.

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2009

North/South Carolina update.
We had a great visit with Randy and Shereen yesterday down at Myrtle Beach, SC.
Randy and Shereen gave us a tour of the camp grounds… WOW… it’s a big one and nice too. Then off to the purple flea market/antique store. That’s a story in itself. You have to go there to get the picture. Let’s just say, no self respecting flea (or antique) would go there. But, they were stuffed full of new junk, including full size statues (plural) of Elvis and assorted pirates.
PS: Todays high was 44 degrees.... burrrrrr!
Did someone say pirates? AARRGGHH !!
Jim, could I put one in my front yard like a jockey? :B
The short answer is YES!
The longer answer is they're too big to fit into my car, or I'd bring you one... only $999.00 each or two for $2,000.00
:E:E:E:E:E:E:E:E
So what you're really saying is they are as tall as Fred. And they won't fit in a Mini Cooper. :B
Hey, you have a truck. Head on down there. By the time you get it home it'll only cost you a couple grand. :B:B:B:B:B
Robin...
if you are thinking of picking out a pirate for you lawn or family room here is a link... AARRGGHH To GO
You can't miss it. It's a big purple building with various statues out front to greet you. Browse their website, you'll see may famous people plus home make salsa, fudge etc...
Except for the food, bests described as "Tacky - Tacky - Tacky"

North/South Carolina update.
We had a great visit with Randy and Shereen yesterday down at Myrtle Beach, SC.
Even though it was cold (for SC) and the wind was blowing, the sun was sunny and we took a quick walk on the beach. There were more people at Myrtle Beach that we have up here in NC. No one was swimming… not even those stupid “Yankees”.
We drove all around the main drags of Myrtle Beach with Carol, Randy and Shereen going down memory lane about all the changes that have taken place in the past 10-20 years. Randy and Shereen have been coming down for 10 years… Carol for 20 years. I’m guessing there has to be one beach shop (Waves, Wings, Beach Wear, Bargain Beach Wear, Pacific, Eagles, etc…) each side per block on every street in town. Followed closely by miniature golf courses.
One of the highlights was a lunch at Sticky Fingers. Great Ribs and assorted BBQ sauces. Like the colonel say’d; “It was finger licking good.” And sticky too.
We had a great visit. Sorry that Randy and Shereen have to head back to the cold north. Here’s wishing them a safe trip and a Happy New Year Everyone.

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2009

Thanks to Jim and Carol who were great tour guides today as they showed Shereen and I some of the historic homes and places off the tourist normal path. Lunch was good at the Fishy Fishy CafeEnjoyed watching the boats and birds on the Cape Fear River. Hope everyone has wrapped up their Christmas shopping as time has almost run out. Randy
It was great having Randy and Shereen come up and joint us for a day around the beaches of Brunswick County. I agree, the Fishy Fishy Cafe is worth a trip back to eat in South Port while overlooking the marina.
Carol and I had a good time and plan to visit with Randy & Shereen next week at the campgrounds in Myrtle Beach. Let them show us around their Christmas retreat.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
To all our Ohio Rally friends.

Neeters, Keep the 13hrs. while you look for another job. Let him pay for your job hunting time and when you find a new job don't give notice.
I totally agree.... every expert says; "It's easier to find a job when you already have one."
One exception... give one week notice but don't be surprised if they don't let you stay the full week. After all he appears to be a real a$$-hole.
The office staff appears to be based on RELATIVE ability. And you know what you get if you marry within your own family.... a bunch of idiots!
Good Luck and watch for that next door opportunity opens... I’m sure it will be soon.

RE: Ohio Rally Christmas Party 12-12-2009

Carol and I are now in Shallotte, NC.
It was 70 degrees yesterday, this morning it was 32 degrees. Warmer than Ohio, but not quite the warm and sunny south that we were hoping for. (Yet!)
Our best wishes to our Rally friends. Wish we could have be there for the Christmas party.

Texas Rally Groups?

Hello to the Lone Star State…
I am writing for friends who are just starting with their MH adventures. They live close to San Antonio, TX and are looking for Rally groups that they could get acquainted with and attend some future Rallies.
They are not all that familiar with RV.NET and how it works, so I offered to get the ball rolling for them. I will send them a link for this post/thread.
If there are some active local Rally groups out there, please post a link or two… thanks.
PS: Feel free to check out the Ohio Rally group. If you are ever in the area feel free to join us for a Rally Weekend.

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2009

Hello from Memphis, TN.
Carol and I are down here until Tuesday. We met up with an old high school friend of Carol’s who is now living in San Antonio, TX. The plan was to meet half-way for a get together... Memphis is about half-way.
We don't seem to stay home much. We seem to stay home just long enough to do laundry and mow the grass… then we’re back on the road again.
I am just now getting caught up with our Oregon adventures. I have started a new website about the trip. I’ve only done the first few days. It will be a slow work in progress. However for those who are patient and interested the site is…
