RE: Including value of site

The actual conflict here is not just one of; "Is it legal?" Clearly the IRS and tax attorneys will tell you it is not. Seek the information and you will find it. The more basic conflict is; "Can I get away with it?" Employers and workers may have been able to get away with it in the past. Audits are on the increase, and Uncle Sam will take whatever he thinks is his. Besides how else is he going to make up the huge deficit.
I don't think there are any documented facts that will support additional audits are being done.

RE: Background checks...... Fingerprints?

This is just another 'favor' the world does for volunteers. They expect a couple to work 74 hours for a parking spot in the maintaince yard, pay for the gas in their private vehicle to do the work etc. etc. We have passed up a number of opportunities like this and have talked to other workamping 'volunteers' that have stopped volunteering.

RE: What to do?? What to do??

We lived in southeast Kansas (Chanute) for several years. We always could depend on going to a New Years Eve Party and coming out to a big snow. I would suggest you start south as soon as your job is complete.

Towing 30' vs 36' 5er

Not sure how to phrase this. Suppose you are making a right turn from a 2 lane road onto a 2 lane road. In a car you can turn and stay in the right hand lane. How much more room do you need to make a right turn with a 36' than you do with a 30'? Hope this makes sense.

RE: workcamping hours

Wheel Estate said "I obviously am having trouble explaining my question", I disagree. Your question was 'obvious'. Some posters on the forum like to take topics and turn them in other directions. I call this highjacking a topic.

RE: workamping skill set

Great post Jayco-noslide.
Our problem is we are in the last month of a 6 month job with the Corps of Eng. and have found 6 months is a long time. We are thinking 2 to 3 months in one location will be long enough for us. How will future employers view that length of stay?

RE: Have You Wintered in Big Bend?

I may not get another response but, if you haven’t done it, please don’t respond. The question was and is “Have You” not “what is your speculation”. I asked questions I would like answered by the group I directed the question to. .

Have You Wintered in Big Bend?

Have you spent extended time (Oct. – May) in the Big Bend area of Texas? How long, what months, where, and what was the best and worst.
Thanks

RE: Cabover Bed Question

Both 62, full timers, sleep over cap every night. Coachmen 200RB did not come with a ladder so I built one out of 2x4, it stores on top of bed during day.

RE: New To RV's Looking for Used class C and need some advice.

We have a 2004 Coachmen on Chevy chassis with 6L. We get 10 MPG. We have gone up and down the worest mountains in the west towing our 2004 Jeep Liberty 4 down. We are well under weight with the exception of the bumper pull. The 04 is one of the last years a Jeep can be towed 4 down. My understanding is they must be automatic transmission with manual transfer case. As far as price, be careful. There is a 2006, like ours, for sell on the net for $40,000. I've been told our 2004 is worth $20,000, big difference.

Major Concessionaires

We think we would like to work for one of the major/large concessionaires in a national or state park. We would like to be where it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We have looked at web sites, no details are given. Not knowing any details, we are looking for information from all you great people on this forum. Two of the first questions are how many hours can you expect and the rate of pay. Then any and all information that you might have

Branson Local ID

I cannot find a post from last year. It said that there was an ID available that would get large discount to attractions in the Branson area. We are going to be in the area for 6 mo. and would like to know where to get the ID. Help.

RE: "How much does this job cost?"

O! We could live on $3000/month without other income. Then you have free site and utilities (including propane). There are many workampers (workcampers) out there living on this. We paint with different brushes.
