RE: Going to RGV,Texas bypassing Indianapolis, IN

"next October" ?? Try posting again in late September for more meaningful, up to date information.
I'll do that... who knows, Harlingen could have moved next to Montreal!!!
I know I am planning very early, but I LOVE looking for info. about many things. It beats doing nothing or just watching TV.

RE: Going to RGV,Texas bypassing Indianapolis, IN

Ok,Ok,Ok, all of you have convinced me not to avoid Toronto, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis... and on previous posts, to go trough Carthage and Rockdale, TX so that I don't go through Dallas and Houston.
A big thank you to all of you, you have been most helpfull in helping plan my trip to Texas next October.
I love you all,

Going to RGV,Texas bypassing Indianapolis, IN

After reading posts and consulting maps about Indianapolis, I have decided and found a way to bypas that city.
Using Google Maps: from Lansing, MI to West Memphis, TN:
- the usual routes are I-69, I-70, I-57 and I-55 for 716 miles, 11H 53Min.
- the bypass I found is I-69, I-94, I-57, I-55 for 709 miles, 11H 58 min.
Any comments?

RE: Fort Wayne, In I-69 or I-469

Don't use I-465 south leg 5P-6P during the week, it can back up for miles for the 65 exit. Stop @ Love's @ exit 64 on I-69 instead. Much easier to get in & out of Love's.
I look at maps of Indianapolis but I cannot see what you mean by leg 5P-6P.
From I-69S, do you take I-465 exit 37A, on your right, or exit 37, on your left, to reach I-70S?

RE: London, Ontario to Fort Wayne, MI

Let me start over again, with more informations.
Next October I will be going to Harlingen, TX, leaving from the South Shore of Montreal. I will tow a 38 ft, 15 k lbs 5th wheel.
Travelling via hwy 401, I will use Ingersol,ON and now Indianapolis,IN as reference points and Google Maps.
Travelling on:
1. Hwy 401, I-75, US 24, I-69 = 423 mi. 7 H 35 min.
2. Hwy 401, I-75 and I-70 W = 454 mi. 7 H 31 min.
3. Hwy 401, 402, I-94, I-75, I-70 W = 468 mi 7 H 38 min.
4. Hwy 401, 402, I-69 = 478 mi. 8 H 13 min.
This might look good on paper... but how is it really, on the road with the traffic?
It's hard to beat experience!
TIA,

Although using I-75 looks like 44 miles shorter/one hour faster, which Interstate is preferable to use?

RE: Scangauge II vs F350 gauge

... The only problem I've had is that I can't get the trans temp programmed in for my truck. A very handy tool.
You can't get the trans temp programmed in for your truck probably because your truck does not have a sender installed on the transmission oil pan. The same goes for my truck.
Since we both have a scangauge II and a OBD2, rather than buying a sender and a gauge, could we not just buy the sender and somehow connect it to the OBD2 so that the Scangauge will read the TFT? If so, how do we do that?

Scangauge II vs F350 gauge

My recently bought 1999 F350 superduty Diesel 7.3L 4x2 truck can display MPG. I also recently installed a Scangauge II which also displays MPG.
On a 50-mile trip today, not towing and unloaded, on a flat surface in Florida, both gauges reset to zero, the TV displayed 21 MPG while the Scangauge displayed 11 MPG.
Before the reset to zero, the TV gauge showed an average of 12.7 MPG for 158,000 miles on the meter, the TV used mostly for towing a 15,000 lbs 5th wheel.
Which one would you trust the most?

RE: OVERDRIVE OR NOT????

Keep in mind when towing it is easier on all parts of the TV and may save you some gas by staying out of OD. The safety factor is a plus in my mind too.
I am not contesting your opinion, but I just want to know how it is that one may save some gas by staying out of OD.

RE: Replacement fenders

My 5th wheel is a 2004 Jayco Legacy. I called a Jayco dealer in Fort Myers to order a double fender skirt from them. The cost is $151 and a few cents plus shipping. I will pick it up at he end of the month.

RE: Question on Tranny temp for Excursion

Thanks a lot mrad.
My vehicle is a F350 Diesel. Scangauge list: Ford PWM, 7.3L and Ford Canada. The RXF, RXD and MTH are the same codes as yout Excursion . The TXD is either the same as yours for Ford PMW or different for Ford Canada.
I guess I should use Ford Canada, but what does PWM means/stand for?

RE: Question on Tranny temp for Excursion

I bought a scan gauge II this week for my F350 truck and I looked for the transmission temperature information...it's not there... or I did not find it!
What is it? Something missing in my truck or in my scan gauge II?
