RE: Additional Water Tank - MOD - Completed

What if you added 2 31group batties up front along with two propane tanks? That should come somewhat close to 150 pounds of extra water for an extra tank right?

RE: Additional Water Tank - MOD - Completed

do you think this would be safe to do on a regular single axel pup? I want to add another 19 gallon tank underneath my trailer.

RE: Water pump Problems......

I would guess the water heater was filling or the water heater bypass valves are in the wrong position.
what would be the correct position for the heater valves?

RE: Water pump Problems......

If you just filled the tank and the water heater was empty it would need to completely FILL the water heater before you'd see the pump shut off and it would also account for very low or zero water pressure while it was filling.
I believe the water heater was empty. I am not 100 percent sure but how does this work......? I fill my water tank under my trailer, then when i flip the water pump switch located inside my trailer the pump transfers water from my tank under the trailer into the water heater??? So my pump will run until the water heater fills completely?
Art by the way, i did not find any valve to swithc between water tank and water inlet.

Water pump Problems......

I have a 2007 Starcraft 2406 and I took it out this past weekend for the second time since i purchased it. Well after reading the owners manual it says to turn the switch to the on position and let the water run from the sink, then when i get a steady stream the pump will turn itself off and only come on when needed. Well that wasnt the case this past weekend. I turned the pump on and let the water run for a little bit while i got a steady stream of water then turned the faucet off but the pump never turned itself off. It ran for probably around 30 minutes until i decided to turn the switch off. I didnt see any leak anywhere in the trailer or outside so i dont know what could be going on. Does it take 30+ minutes for the pump to turn off and build pressure in the line? Please help. Thanks!!

RE: Battery Charging

Hi muke1105,
Have a great trip!
What gauge do you mean? Does it give you a read out in volts?
Okay so after 36 hours of the trailer being plugged in, the gauge inside the trailer reads a full charge!! I am leaving on Friday morning so I will make sure to plug it back in Thursday morning and give it another 12-20 hours of charge. Thanks for all the responses....really helpfull!
No. Its a simple gauge similar to those on cars for the fuel tank. Empty / full type of gauge with a red needle.

Battery Charging

Hello,
I have a StarCraft 2406 that has a built in battery charger / converter. I will be leaving with my family for our second camping trip on Friday the 13th with our trailer and my question is.....
How long / days should i leave my trailer plugged into my garage electrical outlet to get a full charge on my battery? I dont understand the amps / watts thing. So if someone could please help me I would appreciate it. I have the owners manual but it doesnt say how long i should have it plugged in for. I do know that it will not damage the battery due to over charging. Any input will be appreciated thanks!
EDIT: By the way, I only have one battery on the trailer and looks like a smaller battery. Not the really longs ones but more like a regualr sized car battery. (Yes its deep cycle).

AC Water Leak

Hello all,
I have an AC unit on top of my starcraft trailer and whenever its on, its drips water ( I know this is normal )onto the roof on my trailer. Is that water supposed to leak onto the roof and run down the rain gutters in the back or is it supposed to have some type of hose attached to it? This is my first pop up and i am unsure of this situation. Thanks~!

RE: Deep Cycle Batttery or Batteries?

Forget 24s. Get 27, 29 or a pair of 6v golf batteries. The furnace fan does use a bit of 12v power. And so do standard incandescent lights.
With two batteries you should get two to four nights depending on usage. On my PUP I would bring extra blankets and set the thermostat down at 55 to 60 range. Or off and run 30 minutes in the morning as I get up.
Consider some LED lights to save a lot on power for lighting.
LED thread
Another issue might be how to recharge while camped.
I was thinking about the EU serious 2000 watt generators for the desert camping and maybe a solar panel for more quiet camping (dont want to bother the neighbors). But thats will probably be another thread about how big of a solar panel i will need. I was also told that i could hook the trailer up to my truck for about 30 minutes while (leave my truck running of course) and that will charge my batties half way or so?

Deep Cycle Batttery or Batteries?

Hello,
Well after doing a lot of reading I figured I would ask PUP pros there opinion on a topic that seems to be very controversial. Batteries!! I am looking to replace the single battery that came with my pup for a battery or batteries! I think I would feel more comfortable with two batteries on the tounge of my trailer instead on just one battery because I do a lot of dry camping (no hook ups). I was reading a little on batteries and came to find out that there are deep cycle batteries that come in 24, 27 and 31. But I also read that marine / RV batteries are differnt then deep cycle batteries. So my questions are
1. Should I go with two instead of one (since I do a lot of dry camping)
2. Should I buy the 31 instead of the 24 (more is better right?)?
3. I only plan on using the batteries to power my 2 dome lights, water pump and my furnace. How many days use should I expect to get from 1 battery and 2 batteries?
4. The furnace is very important for me to have on during the night. Does this consume a lot of battery life? ( I have a 3 year old that gets cold very easily).
5. What are your personal opinons and ideas about the whole battery thing for pup's.
Thanks for taking the time to read this long post!!

RE: Stereo System in PUP

Wow! There's a few people in this forum that are brutal. I never asked for approval, just ideas as to where and how people have done it in the past. Anyhow, I do get the point about blasting music at a camp ground and I would never disturb any campers but sometimes you just want to play a little romantic Marvin Gaye after a hike with the old lady. But I'm glade to inform everyone that my two speakers and stereo are already in and it looks awsome. I will post some pictures up soon. It looks like a factory install. Thanks for the support from the two posters above this post!!

RE: Stereo System in PUP

Why go to so much trouble? I use a small boombox, which I keep on very low volume. A stereo means you like it loud? Most people camp to get away from the noise of the city. If you do put one in, keep it low!:C
WOW!! Thats has got to be the worst reply ive ever read!! Heres a few reasons why I dont want a boombox.
1. Tent trailer to small for a boombox.
2. I have 2 kids and dont need extra cords pluged into the outlets
3. I like things permanently put in (ex. I could also take an ice chest but i want a built in fridge instead)
4. I like it loud when at the desert!
If your going to reply with comments like the one above, please dont read my threads!

Stereo System in PUP

Im thinking about adding a stereo system (Radio and 2 speakers) in my pup. Wondering if any of you have ever done this? And how did you wire up the stereo for power? Im thinking of installing everything right below the kitchen sink near the stove. I turned on my stove to feel how hot it gets under there and there is no heat in that area. What do you guys think?

RE: Thetford toilet leak

Called Thetford this morning and they said to go down to any local automotive store and buy regular spray silicone in a can? Sounds weird but they didnt seem to helpfull there.
Don't use the spray, it wasn't thick enough and didn't help it seal. Get the can of silicone where you can brush it on. That's what the dealership had, and it worked, stopping the leaking.
Good luck and have a good one.
Where can i get this silicone in a can? Automotive store? Do you happen to have a specific brand to use or something?
