RE: AT&T ranked dead last in satisfaction survey
We've had Verizon & ATT cellphone serve for the past several years and find that the service from both of them is about equal. Some areas are weak with ATT and then another area is weak with Verizon.
We like the ATT rollover plan and use it as our main phone since we get 1100 minutes/month versus 450 minutes with Verizon. I don't know which service I would give up if I had to choose.
We did have a problem with Verizon this past summer and when I complained enough they said we could get out of the contract without a penalty. Not what I wanted to hear, I wanted it fixed.
BTW: They didn't include us in the survey.

RE: Amarillo tx to Las Cruces via rte 60/70
We just took that route from Amarillo to Tucson a couple weeks ago. Nice easy drive with not a lot of traffic. Two hills to climb; 1. coming out of Ruidoso & 2. Approaching Las Cruces. Neither particularly difficult.
We stopped overnight at the New Mexico, Oasis State Park near Portales, NM for the night. They had a number of pull through and it was quiet and peaceful there.

I must be the odd one since I prefer this page format to previous ones. I don't focus on the ads and don't even pay attention to them when I read the postings. JMHO
Most likely the holiday season has something to do with fewer postings. People are just busy with their families.

We camped in the Florida Keys for 10 yrs during the winter months and stayed at state parks the bulk of the time. They cost around $900/month for elec/water and you had to leave the park every 14 days. The private parks ranged from $45-120/night and a couple cheaper parks charged around $1200/month.
If you are only staying a couple weeks then those prices aren't too bad. Try staying there for 5 months and paying in excess of $8,000. Not my cup of tea, but a lot of people are willing to pay it. c'est la vie!

$885/mo + electricity for an extended stay ( 31 days ) is enough to scare me away. We stay in Tucson area for around $500/mo + elec. Since I haven't actually seen the Resort, I am basing it only on price.
The above quote of $885 was for the cheapest site in the resort.

Yes, Bahia Honda is an excellent State Park with water/electric sites and a dump station. Is is so nice that people reserve spots 11 months in advance during the high season. They do have "walk up" sites open at various times. All depends on the luck of the draw.
Your trailer will only fit into one section of about 45 campsites. There are around 12-14 sites on the water and as expected they are the most popular and in demand.
Bahia Honda has the best beaches in the Keys and is heavily used.
Good luck getting in.

There is a small RV park right behind Lowes Hardware store. Not the greatest spot for "camping" but should work for what you want. Full hookups. I don't know their prices or much about the place other than checking it out a few years ago when it looked like we may need a spot in that area.
I think it is called Evergreen or something like that.

Greenbriar State Park on US-40 is within 20 miles of Hood College. They have electric, dump station and you can fill your tank from water faucets throughout the campground. i.e You can't leave your hose hooked up to the faucet all the time.
Nice campground with a small lake and swimming, picnic area. They have one section with electric. Not sure if they are open year around.
There is a small campground in Frederick right off Rt-355. Not really sure if you would call it a campground, more like a small (5-10) site place to stay. The park is right behind the Lowes Hardware store in Frederick. I don't know the name or how to get in touch with the people who run it. Maybe someone else in the area knows about it, or you son could drive by and check it out.
Gambrill State Park is just a mile or so from Frederick and they have some electric sites also. It is a small park but real nice. They would be the closest spot to Hood College. 7 miles away.

No, but check out VRBO.COM for rental property near Lakeland. Sometimes you can catch a good deal on a rental.
VRBO stands for Vacation Rental By Owner and we have used them successfully in the past. They rent property all over the US and many foreign countries.
No, I don't have a vested interest in VRBO.

We stay at Cactus Country RV Resort just east of Tucson at exit 275 on I-10. They have some activities, pool, hot tub, rec hall, wifi and fairly reasonable rates. This will be our 4th year there and we love the Tucson area.

Sorry, didn't see your "clicky" on first read. Agree with you that the combo unit most likely would not let you connect the video stabilizer since everything is internal.

If you don't mind telling us, what kind of gas mileage do you get on your smartcar on the road and in a city environment? I asked a person this question and he said 23mpg, but I may have misunderstood him.
Not knocking the car, just would like some firsthand info. They look like they would be a great tow car if the mileage is great.

He has a VHS/DVD combo unit that you put the VHS tape in one side and a blank DVD in the other side if I understand correctly. If so, he doesn't need another VHS player.
Old VHS tapes of movie didn't have copy protection on them except in rare cases. I am talking about 15-20 year old tapes. I am in the process of copying some old movies I have to DVD and it works fine.
Slow boring job, but worth it for home movies and special movies.

Cactus Country RV Park off of I-10, Exit 275 is NOT a 55+ park and that is where we spend the winter. Small park of about 250 sites with full hookups and friendly staff. You don't have to wear name tags there since everyone knows each other. PM me if you want more info.

I second the recommendation for Tucson. It has everything you mentioned and by late January the nights aren't as cold and days are always in the high 60's low 70's and very pleasant. It is also a good jumping off point for Bisbee, Tombstone, Mt. Lemmon, Desert Museum, and many other interesting places.
