RE: Little confused - propane overfill?

The propane dealers know how much a 30# tank will hold gallon wise and weight with a OPD valve. When certifying my old tanks with the new valves, I was told by a Suburban propane employ that 6.8 gals was all that should be put into a 30# tank and anything over that was over fill. I think that FJ has there meters rigged to show and register more fuel being delivered, thus over charging the customer for propane and nobody challenges this. How can you get 7.2 or more fuel into a 7 gallon container? The OPD does displace some fuel. Just like it was pointed out here a while back that you don't get a full tank from the EXCHANGE places, but are charged for a full cylinder.

RE: Dodge CTD - Life of Batteries

Have them checked by load testing. The third gen trucks rely on batteries that have a good charge in them, other wise the computer will not function and will shut down the start system. Also CLEAN the battery terminals at least every 6 months. Its just PM.
Battery life has been any where from 4 to 9 years.

RE: How do 'you' adjust your side mirrors?

I have my tow mirrors to see down the side of the trailer, then adjust the power mirrors outward to check the blind spot, two mirrors to see behind.

RE: Survey - RV Parks with largest sites? New York/New England

It all comes down to the CONCESSIONER, that contract with the state or feds. They feel they are not making the money they should and are asking to stop the 50% discount on the Golden Eagle passes and allow 10% dis. instead, pluse increase the fees. Is it right?? It needs to be fought.

RE: Cummins Oil Filter

The Fleetgaurd filter is designed to work with the Cummins application as recommended. Its filtering media and the outside case is made to with stand the oil pressures these engine produce and cleanse the oil as required. I do not use any thing else but the Fleetgaurd on my 5.9. If you go cheap on a filter is it worth endangering $12,000 engine to save a buck or two???
Its not worth it to me.

RE: Stopped at a Super Wall-Mart today..stopped selling RV items

Wally world is chasing Target for looks. They are opening up there isles so they don't look cluttered as they do during big sale times.
Mine is reorganizing the auto dept and more space has been set aside for the RV items, allot more space for the oil items. Lest that was what I observed. Managers can order what they want for there dept. but Bentsonville decides if they get it. I went the rounds with them on the oil I use, they would bring in enough to fill one single row of delo 400, about eight bottles, when arrived it went right back out the door so the self was always empty. Rotilla had four times the space and it looked like it never move out.

RE: Must own home in Canada?

To bring this back to the surface---- suppose you have a lot in the boonies, with no utilities (no bills) and you use it when you are there, with a supposed number for address, I guess you could use the title, or Mortgage papers, as proff but it might have just a plot number to. EHH.

RE: Guess my fuel mileage is no worse than others

I hope that you are figuring your mileage by hand and not relying on the truck instrumentation in the overhead. It never has been right and probably never will. I hope you guys are getting your truck out and working the dickens out of it to keep the DPF cleaned out, and if the DPF fell off, you still have it for inspection time. (If it applies.) 12-15 mpg has been the norm for the newer trucks because---.

RE: Has anyone had experience with one of these

Don't be to disappointed when you pull into a camp ground to register for the night, and the clerk tells you that your trailer is to old to stay there. This happened to a friend of ours and theres is a early 80's.
To bad they don't like the color of GREEN $$$$$$$.

RE: Head on collision, vehicle on fire with trapped occupant

Good job Collin.
Some advice about your fire extinguishers, if its old don't trust the gage it might be stuck, every month take it out of its holder and shack it, turn it up-side-down, loosen up its contents cause it settles and becomes solidly packed in there. Its advised to replace them every 3-5 years. We take these safety items for granted, and we shouldn't.

Let your truck take the weight on the hitch pin, and spare the landing gears. A bit more stable.

I've done both and really liked both equally. They are different ways to get to the top. D/S ride the train up and take the buss back. Both are different scenery.

RE: Paralyzed Vet needs an remote control fifth-wheel hitch

In the commercial application of moving trailers around a trucking yard, known as Hosteling, there is a air operated fifth wheel hitch release. Its operated by air pressure, so a compressor and air tank and the release and control button would all have to be installed. I believe there is a one way valve some where that allows the jaws to close when hitching up.
Have him contact a truck parts supplier, that has to do with the fifth wheels on commercial trucks, or truck fabricator. It also would involve the guts from a commercial fifthwheel set up.

RE: What Spare Parts Do You Carry For Your T.V.?

A boonie box is a good way to go. It has your filters, (fuel a must and oil, your choice), Radiator hoses, serpentine belt, fuses, hiway warning markers, tow strap, and a folding shovel. But its your choice what you have. But if you drive a diesel a fuel filter or two is a must. You can't take your shop with you but try to be prepared with the basics.

RE: CBSA. returning to Canada

Having lived there you should know what you can do and not. They like to take most agricultural produce, the same as what can be grown there. We had a new bag of potatoes we had taken two out, and they took them. We went to the store to replace them and BOUGHT the same bag, just like it, same grower etc. What a waste.
