RE: Nervous wife

Tires: There must be a reason she's concerned about the tires. On the TT, you say it's a 2003, if the tires are original YES replace them, even if you are going 150 miles.
Tires on the Expedition, are they as old? I'm with her if they are that old, other wise what's the tread wear like?
I'll support your wife unless you can give just causes for NOT replacing the tires.
Break downs are worrisome for her. Then get Coach-Net. Don't rely on AAA. If your tow vehicle breaks down what happens to your trailer? Even if you have AAA RV Plus it's not available in all areas.

RE: road side service problems

Years ago Good Sam couldn't provide us service (flat on an interstate). We took care of ourselves. Called and cancelled the next day (they could care less) went to Coach-Net and feel so much better know they WILL help me.

RE: best TT brands

With the money you are willing to spend and talking about full time you should look at New Horizons You will deal directly with the manufacture and you can get it built to your specification.

RE: Cats

My sister leaves her 6 cats home all the time. Cat sitter checks on them. Be thankful you have a family member that will take care of them.

RE: Rt 66

As stated by others the area from Kingman to Oatman, it's tight. Narrow original road with switch backs. We did it with the truck in my signature and a 22' TT and it was great. DH said he wouldn't and probably couldn't with our current TT. There is a restricted signage about over all length prior to the switch back. You can make it as far as Cold Springs, AZ in any size rig, but after that if you are long, nope.

RE: What do you do if severe weather hits while camped?

If you are unable to relocate, depending on the type of storm look at the bathroom at the campground. Chances are it's cement with little windows. If we had to go there, out animals go with us, cats in crates and dogs on leash. We don't care what the management would say.

RE: Need help from experienced RVers

May I ask why you aren't considering another Sunnybrook (floor plan?)? Based on what you are used to and the list you gave. Jayco and KZ.

RE: Fantastic Fan - 12 volt problem

This may not be your case. DH found the wiring to be under powered (for lack oh knowing the proper terminology) , so he had to run different wiring from the battery to our 12 volt outlet.

RE: Winter Camping

Battery: Don't you need the battery in order for the furnace to work? If so and you don't have your battery hooked up and you try to use the furnace and it doesn't work, it could be cause it needs the battery.

RE: Re-Assurance Needed

Have you thought about going from the known (the condition of your truck and trailer) to the unknown? (having no idea what shape the Class A will be in)? The difference in insurance and maintenance? You will most likely need a dingy with the Class A, which means 2 engines and 2 transmissions.
The setup (from what I've read) still takes the same amount of time.
There is still the possibility that you won't go camping much more often that you do now.

RE: condensation or leak

Since you say it hasn't rained then yes, I would say condensation. It's winter and many recent threads with suggestions. Leave a vent open, use a fan to circulate the air, dehumidifier are the most popular suggestions.

RE: Blackberry plan(s)?

I have AT&T for my cell .. but hands down Verzion has it over AT&T when it comes to internet connection. I decided to go with an Aircard (have since updated to the USB module. What brought me to Verizon: I picked up an AT&T card on a Friday and tried all over various areas in Ocala, FL. Service was spotty at best. Returned the card on Monday went to Verizon and got theirs. In the same areas in Ocala that I could not get with AT&T I got 3 or better (bars) with Verizon. That was 6 years ago.
