RE: 5th wheel hitch - 16K or 18K

I would go for the larger in this case. I would not want to put any undo stress on a small hitch.

RE: Problem Rv's & NHTSA

RVing is a passion with most, we do it for the enjoyment not the worry about equipment failure. Rving is to us as Boating is to other people, there may always be some type of failure. When I owned a boat I was always putting money into it for either fix up or maintance, same with an RV. You have to enjoy the time spent. You said you tent camp, ever had zipper failure due to poor maintance, a tent peg strap break. There are so many things that could cause the problems you stated, most of them relate directly back to the person driving or loading the unit.
Enjoy the time

RE: Longer valve stems

I would go with the longer. I have short extended stems and find it not very workable.

RE: Closing the deal...

Most dealers will give you the "startup package", which is sewer hose, water hose those kind of things. You may want to upgrade to higher quality items in that group. I do not know what you consider extras. If you like the trailer and the price go for it. May be the dealer will throw in some outside chairs or bbq grill.

RE: sidewinder airborn

Unless the dealer is giving you such a good deal on the 5thAB, I would wait. You can always add the 5thAB at a later date. They are not hard for two people to install.

RE: Elevation map

My wife has the same problem although its 3000 ft. I have found the trailer life cd very usefully for planning trips. It gives us the elevation of the places we want to stop at.

RE: Propane Tank PM

When I had my MH I took a wire brush to the tanks surface. Used a good rust stopping white paint. I then used black auto undercoating to the bottom 1/4 of the tank. This stopped the rocks from chipping the paint.

RE: Length of trailer and camp sites

I have a 35ft. 5th wheele and have not found much of a problem rving in Iowa. There have been some tight spots but nothing that would stop me. I would go for the unit that best fits your needs. Enjoy the Iowa camping many places to choose from.

I put a 5th Airbourne on my Cardinal and it made a world of difference. I think any of the air type pin boxs will work.

RE: hitches

Let me add another twist to your question. 1) any of the major hitch mfg.s would work for you. You wrote you are purchasing a new unit, if this is from a dealer I would suggest this. Most dealers also sell the hitches I would make them give you one plus have it installed, if they want to sell you the unit. I have done this many times and it works.

RE: Found A (Used) 5th Airborne Needs Tips on What To Look For

Should not change the height any great amount. You should be ok there. When I replaced my cardinals factory pin box with 5th ab I had one issue. Lining up the bolt holes. When you go look at it take as many measurements with you concerning the bolt holes. When I replaced mine I thought I would be using the same holes as the old pin box. I could not get the 5th ab to use the same ones, I did however get the same amount 5 on each side just in different holes. You will not be unhappy with the advantage you will be over other pin boxes.

RE: Wall plate with the antenna power switch ????

The switch (if you have one) will or should be located where the main tv is plugged in. It will have a small light and push switch, with a cigatette lighter looking outlet also. Now with that being said, if I remember winguard also has a model with NO power booster. You may have that model. Go to their web site to find out how you can tell.

RE: TV COAX

When you say "cable connection" I am thinking that you are trying to get cable TV reception. If this is the case make sure the power boost for the over the air is turned off. There should be some sort of button and lite where the main tv is located. Two I would start finding where all the connections are located and tighten the connections. I had a problem with reception and found all connections were finger tight. Once I tighten them the problem was gone. Most of the connections are located behind the panel where you hook up the main tv, I had to take the cd player out to get to them.
