I would get a new cord of enough length to reach the existing in-bed connector.

RE: Dicor and roof sealing

I use Eternabond and then Dicor the edges of the same. Double protection after a bad roof leak. I don't know why in the world they don't use Eternabond from the factory.

RE: Which Allison transmission fluid?

TranSynd get it from your local Allison shop.
X2
Some GM dealers sell TranSynd, it is cheaper to find a local Allison shop and get it there. The filters are also much cheaper at the Allison dealer. GM dealer wanted $35.00 for a filter, I get them from Allison for $13.00.
X3
Transynd is good stuff.
And never put Dex6 in your year Allison unless you want your seals to leak.

RE: Fifth Wheel Plug in Bed of Tow Vehicle

Check to see if the truck has the $35 option UY2. (Options label in the glove-box). This is the camper wiring provision and is a length of 7-core wire coiled up and taped to the left chassis rail just behind the cab.
Cut the zip ties and uncoil the wire. It is connected at the back of the truck box so is plenty long enough to go up the left corner of the box just in front of the tailgate.
That's where my in-box 7-pin is installed.
If you don't have UY2, then you are looking at splicing into the wires that go to the bumper connector.
More work but still not a difficult job.
I agree with the other posters - your dealer just doesn't want to know!
Ditto,
That is where mine was at, All I needed to buy was the plug and a hole saw.

RE: Do you drink the water....

I drink from my tank, I drink from my tap at home. My initial fill of the tank when we take a trip is from the tap at home. Subsequent fills along the way are made after I first taste the water. If it tastes OK I fill up, if not I don't. I Never filter the water that goes into my tank because I don't want to filter out the chlorine that the municiple water department puts in so left over water in the tank does not "GROW", but I do filter one tap on the Motor home where I get my drinking water. My thought on filtering the water before you put it in your tank is that now you do not have the chlorine protection in your tank because you filtered it out. I sanitize the tank once a year in the spring. The money I save by not buying bottled water goes for the cost of that precious fluid that I put in my fuel tank. Been doing it for over thirty years, works for me but may not work for everybody, but that is why you asked so you could make up your own mind by all the answers you get on this forum. Good luck

RE: set up of satlitite dish for direct tv

thanks for all ur help. the wind keeps moving dish and i have to realine the dish. again thanks
Yep had problems with that as well so I bought a Bullseye mount and there is no doubt this was the best money that I ever spent.
40mph wind gust wont move this thing, I usually mount it to the rear bumper but I have used the stake that comes with it a couple of times.
As others have said I just use the built in signal meter and most times just a 5-min job, However if you like camping in the woods alot you will need to get one of those high dollar jobs to aim thru the trees.

RE: Would getting a long bed truck be a bad idea for the FW?

IMHO a long bed is better than a short bed. Sure the turning radius is more the for someone towing a fifthwheel that should not be an issue. I am on my 2nd FW and 2nd Long bed truck and wouldn't have it any other way.
100% agree long bed is better and no worries about the back of the truck hitting the trailer, I can jack my long bed dually 90 degrees.

RE: What Grill do you use?

I use our old house bbq It can hold enough food for 6-8 people which is usually our group. I strap it in the back of our truck to and from camping. When we get home it goes in the garage.I would like a new portable one but i cant justify spending 2-300 hundred on one when the old bbq works just fine.Happy camping to all!

RE: Tire of Choice for towing 5th wheels with a Dually

I'm not towing quite as heavy as you are (10k), but I got 63k miles out of my last set of BF Goodrich Commercial T/As, so I bought another set from Costco. Mine are 235/85/16

RE: grease a hitch?

Like others have said use a teflon plate they are available in 10" and 12" dia. But you will still need to use some sort of heavy axle grease on the king pin to prevent scaring.

Calling all Texans

Just moved to Mansfield Texas and I need to understand how to register and tag my fifth wheel.
The woman at the county tax office told me it needs to be inspected and weighed, I can get it weighed at the Cat scales but she did not know where to take it for inspection and I assume it is not the same place I took my cars.
So What is the real procedure?
The DMV website is not much help either.
Thanks

RE: we are leaning towards one of 3 brands

Gotta love all the experts, With the exception of mobile suite no one offers a frame and superstructure as strong as Sunnybrooks higher end models.
These things are built to last a long time with minimal flex.
Don't recollect anyone calling themselves an expert in here. Only three models were asked about, I believe if you do a little research, you'll find that almost every manufacturer has had some good ones and has also produced an occasional "bad" one, including Sunnybrook. In reality all three aren't bad. Guess you love yourself, because you too apparently are a self proclaimed expert on the suject, as least you came off as one...Most stated in here are opinions, or opinions based on experience............
Not an expert, just a guy with a deep appreciation for a solid foundation as I tend to think all rv's are made the same using the same stuff as there competitors withing the various price ranges and my "opinion" is longivity starts with a good foundation, So based on that there are very few manufactures that use the 15" plus frame or double stacked rectangular tubing.

RE: Sunnybrook Brookside

We love ours and will buy another Sunny when ready.
I have heard the quality concerns of the new Sunnys but no one comes close to the frame size on the Sunnys and the extensive aluminum superstructure that they offer except for maybe Mobile Suites they use a double box tube frame.
Good Luck
