RE: Big Bend National Park - Can we take our dog?

I'd rather listen to a dog bark for a couple of hours inside an RV while an owner is out, than listen to a neighbors outside entertainment center and an the hooting and hollering for a TV show next door.
Yes, I also ask my neighbors to let me know if my dog barks while we're gone and so far no one has told me she barks or makes any noise.

RE: Las Vegas Buffets

Casino buffets are getting to be ridiculously priced. Even the little native American casinos here in Minnesota and Wisconsin charge $12 or $13 for dinner.
I was with a group in Reno last year. We stopped at a casino buffet and about fell over when we found out they charge $20 for dinner. It was seafood night so we did eat. (They charge the same seafood night or not.)That was last year, the price this year has risen to $24.95 at the Atlantis Toucan Charlie buffet. Amazing, tourism is down 30%, so raise the prices 25%. we went once this fall and would not go back. Would rather go to JT's in Minden, for a much better Basque meal.

RE: Where t buy 12 volt heater for water bay

1st, how do you know it "went out"? It is designed to blow cold air when turned on until the temp reaches a certain point, then the sensor closes the switch and it will produce heat also. The only way to trouble shoot the wafer switch for operation is place ice on it and see if the heater starts heating. If the fan is working, the chances are very good that the heater is working as designed. If not, then a good source for a new one is Northwest RV Supply.

RE: Laws regarding a firearm in an RV?

Here is a link to the one book for RVers on this subject. Anyone here who tries to tell you yes or no is generally shooting from the hip, as every state has different wording in their laws. If you care to work at it, you can get a CCW from several different states that will cover about 40 +/- states.

RE: Big Bend National Park - Can we take our dog?

The Rangers at BBNP are very dog friendly. My DW fell and double fractured her wrist, on one of the trails there and had to go to Alpine, 130 miles one way, to the hospital. The Rangers went to our RV, fed and walked our dog that evening, before we got back. Yes, dogs are permitted in the park and the Rangers are the best. Also, there may be a kennels in the park at Panther Junction visitors center, but I'm not sure.

RE: TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS

Had been considering the TST (earlier post).
questions:
Does the Pressure Pro detect temp flucuations? Did not see that in the literature yet.
Is temp monitoring critical? Thought it might be.
SWAG for a 6-unit system?I was told by a Pressure Pro distributor that the newest model has temp monitor capabilities. Mine, an earlier generation, monitors temp by the pressure fluctuations. I paid $600 out the door, for a 10 tire system.

RE: 03 ford diesel, should i be nervous to buy?

A little research will show that most 03's had a 7.3 and then after the mid point of production for 03, they switched to the 6.0. Also you will find they had very few problems with the X models unlike the F models which were notorious for problems in the 03 to early 05 models. Ford used a different computer on the X models and for some reason, that made a difference in reliability. If this X showed no previous history of problems, then yes, I would not hesitate to buy it.

RE: 06 HR Endeavor with fire dammage

The original owners have been traveling/living in the coach for the last three months, they disclosed everything they know about the coach so does that suggest things in the overhead are ok and did not suffer too much heat? The ceiling (I assume vinyl) was not replaced and is in very good shape.
The tape on the roof, is that normal from the factory or is that some type of repair? In my mined if the tape is not factory it suggests there was a lot of roof damage!
Yes, the tape is applied at the factory. My 05 Endeavor, bought new, had the tape on all roof seams when delivered.
This is a tough one because it looks perfect and I can afford it but as someone indirectly stated a little lib stick and makeup can hide a lot of sins.I personally would walk away from this coach and keep looking, unless the price was $50K or LESS. There is a good possibility that there is a lot of hidden damage from the heat and it will allow the roof components to continue to deteriorate over time. That coach, in pristine condition, can be bought all day long for $129K or less. Friends just bought a NEW 08 Diplomat 41' for $143K.

RE: Warning signs for workampers.........

I think the best one that ever happened to us was that we were to work 13hrs/week for the site. After we started and the work was not getting done, we were informed that they expected us to volunteer at least another 16hrs/wk, as it took that many hours to get the work they expected, done. We moved on after a couple of weeks. LOL

RE: RV break in

Call your State Attorney's office and check on liability. I know that in some states the dealer is responsible regardless and in some states, they have a legal fence around them that can not be penetrated. I would get a copy of the SP report and then let the insurance companies sort it out.
The State Attorney will likely not be giving legal advice on a civil matter like this. Our SA has a consumer division, just for such questions and advice.

RE: Volunteer hours Increasing?

I've been following the Volunteer Camp Host posting on www.volunteer.gov/gov for a few months now. It was usual to see required hours in the 20 to 32 hour per week range for a full hook up site. Now it appears that has changed to "five day week", or "Six day week" with 8 hour days required. Has any one else noticed? Those that are presently hosting, what are your expected hours per week? For a volunteer host job with no compensation other than site and HU's, the max I would consider is 20 hours. If they want 40 or 50 hours then they can start paying a decent wage.

1st Nogales(Mariposa) crossing

Today, Rocmoc and I along with our wives went to Nogales to shop and have lunch. This was my 1st experience of crossing both ways at the Mariposa crossing and just re-enforced my resolve to NEVER cross there with a large class A and toad. The new check point going into Mexico on the American side, is a serpentine crossing and the Mexican Aduana is installing the new scales and is a total mess with one narrow lane. The return to the US is about as confusing as it can be and the lanes are not in any way RV friendly.

RE: Hawks Head TPM Sensor theft - Problem or not?

We have the Pressure Pro system and in all of our travels, in and outside of the states, have NEVER lost a sensor from either our coach or the toad. scooter4 was correct about removing the sensors while in storage and saving the batteries.

RE: TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS

I looked them all over and at that time, TST was having major problems with delivering their product and then it was not of the quality they touted. I have no knowledge if things have improved with them but I passed because of that. Hopkins was also the new kid on the block and had no track record to look at, so that was a pass also. I decided to go with the original, Pressure Pro, that had a proven track record and it has already paid for itself with a warning this week of a tire going bad. Just that one tire would have cost more than I paid for the 10 monitor system. this is NOT an area to use cost as the deciding factor, but reliability, so you know it will do the job you are buying it for.

RE: Acupuncture

I agree, the weight of the "gun belt" does not help a back pain....LOL...Yes, I tried acupuncture along with chiropractic help, after an on duty accident and a lot of pain. Yes, it worked, but is NOT an overnight cure. I still to this day use both in lieu of the "traditional" treatments, because in my opinion, both of these were around and considered "traditional" medicine centuries before horse doctors and Voodoo priest found out they could make more money by treating humans, rather than 4 legged animals. When the so called "traditional" medicine is required, I have a DO instead of an MD, because they are trained in both practices and know the total body and its needs, not just the push a pill side.

RE: NASCAR..made in America..right

Watch the Nationwide series next year, 4 or more races with Mustangs etc. The COT and fans of NASCAR are D.E.A.D on arrival in the Sprint cup. Everyone knows it but Brian France.
Aren't those Mustangs just a newer version of the COT for the Nationwide series? That is the plan, no "Mustang", just a new style COT with decals, for the Nationwide series.
