RE: Christmas in an RV

Although we are not fulltimers we are snowbirds and at Christmas in the RV we decorate it in and out and also have a small fake tree set up on the dashboard. I run rope lights outside and even around the wheels.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good news Folks.
"Its worth a try, go ahead & post the details on snowbirds. I know there are some here who have been able to help in the past.
THANKS Ron"
Ok, Richard, Ron is the Snow Bird Mod, so go ahead and post the request in that Forum.
Hope this helps Diamond to her forever home.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

OK Folks,
I just PM'd the Moderator for the Snow Bird Forum asking for permission for Richard to post for transportation for Diamond. Keep your fingers crossed. I think it could be worded to fit the Snow Bird Forum ie. "4 legged wannabe Temporary Snow Bird looking for transportation West"

RE: Common sense and the Flying J dump station..

This must be an eastern thing. I always stop at Truck Stops to fuel, if they have RV lines I'll use them, but actually prefer the truck pumps since the truckers always pull forward before they go in to pay.
I do the same thing if I have to go in to pay. I have run into some pretty inconsiderate RV'ers at the rv lanes who could take a lesson or two from the Trkers.

RE: No power, batteries are dead yet I am plugged in

It could have been caused by crossing of the batteries. On my mh the rv repair facility crossed the jumper cables and I ended up replacing the VDC unit. Perhaps some of you more knowlegable folks can explain what a VDC is and what it does. I know on my MH it sure caused a lot of my gages to go haywire. And it was caused by the Tech crossing the jumper cables.

RE: Talk about a tight squeeze!!

Fantastic job. When we use to come home after a camping trip our neighbors would get their chairs out to watch the entertainment as I backed the 5th wheel in. So, when DW said she wanted a MH, I was glad to oblige.

RE: Where is your homebase that is RV friendly?

Some places are RV friendly and some are not. Like CO. Utah doesn't have a problem with rvs parked on your property. In the Salt Lake Valley there are about 8+ cities and you can find pop up campers to 45' motor homes parked along side our homes. Now if you choose to live in some of the HOA communities you may be limited on parking your RV or boat beside your house. Here in Utah you might see an RV parked at just about every other house. My DD and SIL live in an area with HOA rules, they told the SIL he can't park his enclosed work trailer on the street and it was hooked to his truck.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Just a thought but you might get more help to transport Diamond over on the SnowBird Forum if the Moderators will allow it. There is a lot of them moving from above you to Texas and AZ for the Winter especially after Christmas.

"The dog had a Tatto in its ear and was chipped."
Wow, it appears your city pound doesn't check for chips or they don't have a wand. Wonder how many pets have been put down that were chipped. Looks like you might have another project on your hands, getting readers for the local pounds.
Did you save the pups, silly question, of course you did. We just need to hear it.

RE: RV Parks Charging for Cats?

We travel with 2 dogs and 2 cats and last year 2 turtles. When they ask I tell them 2 dogs and 2 cats, some charge extra for the dogs, but I have never been charged for the cats or turtles when we had them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard, once again you have rescued one of Gods creatures. How was Dr. Fords office able to ID the dog? Did they know the dog? Or was the dog chipped? This is the first time I've heard of you going to the pound. What made you do it and especially in time to save this dog. I think you have given us all a FANTASTIC Christmas story with this. In fact you have really made Christmas come true for this dog and the family that was missing their beloved pet. God Bless you for all that you do. You truely are the appointed Guardian Angel for Gods creatures in Waynsboro.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Just got word from my Parents that their toy poodle Jewel has been missing since Tuesday. She is a rescue, and was rescued at the same time and was living in the same cage as our Katie. They NEVER go outside, as they've been trained to do their business in one place (like cats!), so they have no idea why she went out, or when. Please pray for her safe return.
OK Folks, has this furbaby been found.

RE: Is it my tires or CA HWY 60/10

And that's another reason why the extent of my California visits are limited to Barstow on I-40 from Needles. If you think it's bad down South try I-80 from the CA border West. We've got better dirt roads.

RE: Argh, stupid county regs!

Have you read the rule to see how it applies to where you are staying? Skirting in Mobile Home parks is just that, skirting, not pieces of insulation or plywood. Also, most city/county rules on decking require railing up the stairs and around the deck. This may be why the County is cracking down. I'd get a copy of the rules from the County to see how they apply to your situation. Good luck.

RE: Winterize: Do U use water pump or hand pump?

I have an inlet that I hook a hose to that draws the af from the bottle through the pump to all the water lines, there is also a lever for waterheater by pass. Mine is located in the same compartment where all the levers and o/s shower are located. I would think that yours being a 2008 it would have something similar. I would think there would be instructions in your manuals or even in the compartment where your water hook up and outside shower are.
First year I had mine I had it winterized and watched him so I could do it.

RE: Who shuts off their water?

We have been FT for over 13 yrs and this is the first time this has happened! As I was sitting at the computer I hear a POP sound come from the bathroom. When I went in to check there was water pouring out from behind the toilet. I ran outside in my jammies to shut off the water. It all took maybe 5 minutes so the mess was limited. We both work but it was my day off otherwise it may have been quite a disaster! How many of you shut off your water every time you leave your RV?
I gotta ask since no one else did, did you have a water regulator on your hose? I had the Toilet line on a trailer many years ago pop off and it was because I had no water regulator. Just wondering.

RE: Snowbird Celebrations

In Yuma the little border town of Los Algodonas, MX (sp?) has a welcome back party in Dec and a Thanks or Good bye party in Mar. I hear food and drink are free with plenty of music.
