RE: water pressure regulator, Watts or Valterra

I've never understood why anyone would want to turn down their water pressure below the max their RV will handle. It also serves no purpose to turn it up higher trying to get MORE because it can't increase over what comes out of the faucet. To each his own I guess. I use a Watts N55BUmodel water pressure regulator. The reason being I have been to some CG's with pressure over 110+ psi, which is beyond most RV maximums. I wonder how many know the max. pressure for their RV's? The basic reason I use a home unit is the volume that they provide, the cheap models for RV use only restrict the pressure and reduce the volume of water needed. Just like water pumps for RV's they are mostly rated for the same pressure, but the G.P.M. is different.

RE: Where to buy a replacement mirror bracket?

I contacted the Mfg.for mine, and when wanted $200+ or more and that was for the complete assy. as they did not offer the bracket alone. I will find a good chrome shop and have mine re-chromed this fall.

RE: New to Dolly Towing - Help

Steering wheel locks have been a Federal requirement for several years. Did you put the transmission in park and removed the key? Did you check with your Chrysler dealer about it not locking? Read Owners manual? It should explain in the manual.

RE: I40 Knoxville to Asheville still detoured?

Even after it is opened I will continue to use the detour until I am convinced there will not be more rock slides. They have had unusual rainfall and snow in that area this past winter and several slides in that area. I don't feel like being the one to test their work.

RE: De-Winterizing and Sanitizing

This is the procedure I do for my MH. RV Water System Sanitation 1.Prepare a solution of ¼ cup household liquid chorine bleach (5% sodium hypo chlorite) to one gallon of water for each 15 gallons of fresh water tank capacity (100 gallons).(Mix 6 separate gallons of water with ¼ cup in each gallon and run through water hose into tank in step 2 below). 2.Close drain valves and faucets and connect water pump to fresh water hose and siphon bleach into water tank. Disconnect water pump and complete filling water tank. 3.Open all faucets, shower hose, flush toilet, cycle icemaker until all lines are full and you can smell bleach. 4.Top off water tank and let stand for 3 hours. 5.Drain and flush the entire system with potable water, by opening all faucets, shower hose and flushing toilet. 6.Remove any lingering chorine taste or odor by preparing a solution by diluting a ¾ cup of baking soda in one gallon of scalding-hot tap water (the baking soda needs to be dissolved completely) and adding to tank. This is solution is based on a 100 gal. water tank. Siphon this mixture by using step 2 above. 7.Fill the tank and let stand over night. Drain and flush. The fresh water tank should be clean and sanitized.

RE: A&E Awning getting porous and dripping

You can buy waterproofing at WalMart in aerosol cans. If you read the owners manual it recommends re-waterproofing yearly. This keeps the water from seeping through the fabric.

RE: Another Toyota Problem

Cute, but only Honda makes lawnmowers and not electric at that.

RE: Tow Dolly is this the best way? Pros and Cons

I towed our 96 RAV4 for 5 years without any problems. I installed a trailer receiver/ball on the RAV4 to tow the dolly to our campsite or move around. I could load and install all tire straps/safety chains in less then 10 min. and never had a problem storing the dolly at any of our campsites. Costs is the least for a dolly vs. buying and installing all of the equipment necessary for towing 4 down. Be sure you get a dolly with either surge brakes or electric brakes so you have breakaway protection. I never had to kneel on the ground to connect my safety chains or tire straps. Good luck in your choice.

RE: truth about leaving your trailer at WallMart or Sam's Club

I would recommend you check with the Management of the store for their opinion. No one on this forum can speak for WalMart or Sam's Club.

RE: Waxing exterior

I have used Collinite products for years. www.collinite.com I have been using their #845 Insulator Wax that is a pure wax, no cleaner. I can wax my entire MH 38', 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500, 96 RAV4, 2004 Honda Pilot and 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix with one pt. bottle. It is easy on and off and last a long time. I have been using it on all of my vehicles, RV's, and Classic cars since back in the early 80's.

RE: Daylight savings time yea or nay

I wish we would run on the "summer" time year round. I dislike the "winter" schedule because it gets dark at suppertime. I'd rather have that extra hour of daylight in the evenings. I say make Daylight Savings time the permanent time. I agree! I too agree. Who cares if it dark in the morning? You have so much more time in the evening to do things outdoors.

RE: Doubt about runaway Prius story

Read Prius incident ignites spotlight for more information about Mr. Jim Sikes http://www.usatoday.com/MONEY/usaedition/2010-03-12-prius12_ST_U.htm I seems he filed for bankruptcy in 2008 with a debt of $700,000 and his sole vehicle is the Toyota Prius, that is leased from Toyota. In the article he said he hopes to get a replacement car out of the ordeal.

RE: Why 2 Couches?

In our MH we have a J Lounge on the curb side and full couch on road side. This works great for us as my wife can lie on the J Lounge while watching TV and I have the couch to stretch out. The J lounge also provides storage below vs. a chair/recliner that only seat one. Our Basset also likes to lie on the J Lounge. Just a personal preference IMO.

RE: Wiring MH for New Tow Dolly w/brakes

Another option is to get a 7 flat to 7 round adaptor so you make no permanent changes to the MH or dolly. If you are going to make permanent changes, I would change the dolly's plug. I didn't install my controller, the dealer did, so I can't help you on the front end. Bobbo I would also use an adaptor and leave the 7 round plug on your MH. That way you could use it if you ever wanted to tow a storage or car trailer in the future. My dolly has a 7 way round plug. My current dingy, enclosed car trailer and dolly all use the 7 way plug on the back of my MH.

RE: Towing a Prius

Double check the recall..... How does this effect towing a Prius? Ditto. In reference to this news article, why didn't he shift to neutral? Shifting to neutral will disengage the engine from forward motion in every vehicle I have ever driven.

RE: Eternabond

Based on this, scroll down please Do i need to get a seam roller for this tape? If not, what to use? Do i need a cleaning spray? If not , what to use? A seam roller is recommended as you will apply more pressure and get a better seal. As mentioned cleaning with acetone or if your seams are not mildew, cleaning with a simple green solution would be sufficient.

RE: buying a 99-2006 Chev Suburban wanting some input

So Dick B, What kind of Mileage do you get with your 3/4 ton burb? I've heard that what the 8.1L lacks in non towning mileage it makes up for towing. Meaning it gets better then the 6.0L gas while towing. I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500 w/8.1L and 4:10 ratio. Towing our Avion 32'TT weighing 7600 lbs. I averaged 9-10 mpg traveling 70 mph from Indiana to Myrtle Beach, SC. roundtrip. Driving w/o trailer the mileage was in the 10-14 mpg. city/highway. Not the best but considering the GVW not that bad IMO. The 8.1L was about the same mileage that a 6.0L but with more power and torque. and greater towing capacity.

RE: tow bars

I use a Roadmaster Falcon II that folds up and stays connected to my MH. I place a cover on it when not in use at the CG.

RE: Removing Emissions Controls: Legal Ramifications?

If you are really smarter then all of the engineers that designed the total system for emmission control on your engine have at it. Years ago I saw many owners that paid someone to remove their emmission controls and later had engine or transmission problems because everything it interrelatted to the total system by computers. Any warranty will be void and repairs are very expensive. Think you can save enought to pay for them?

RE: How old is too old for a controller?

I had a brake controller that was installed new on my 1983 Suburban that I sold last year that is still working fine. That makes it 27 years old. If it isn't broke why change it?
