RE: suburban water heater

i have not seen a magnesium anode for a Suburban heater. I have only seen aluminum. My eyes are getting bad though.
The only magnesium anode I saw had a fitting that was sized for an Atwood bung

RE: Onan Generator: Fix or Replace?

that seems like alot of generator for a small MH.
If you end up replacing it instead of fixing, I believe the new 4k Microquiets are 2995 new. Easy enough to install if you have basic skills.

RE: Atwood hot water heater clean out

No Kidding!!! Imagine the amount of JUNK in the bottom of RJs WH!!!!
I clean mine 2 times per year and am astounded at what comes out for the little use it has had during the 6 month period. I have personally cleaned 3 other folks WHs since I have the plastic tool for the garden hose and they swore never to clean them because it is a part of the plumbing system. They had some fear that it would leak after they did it. LAME excuse. One guy had a 4 year old Suburban heater that the water smelled like eggs. I pulled his anode to help him out and the anode was gone and the sediment was higher than the drain hole !!!
Keep up the good work RJ you the man,

RE: Volunteer opportunity in SE Alaska

For 22 years we lived 100 miles from the nearest WM or anything else worth shopping at (Costco) Now we live over 100 miles from same.....at least it was not a shock to the system when we settled up here in the wilds of Idaho :B:W
Interesting as I have lived in Boise for almost 30 years and Donnelly wasnt 100 miles away :?

RE: water heater anode?

All Suburban water heaters have steel tanks lined with ceramic, and are protected by a magnesium or aluminum anode to prolong the life of the tank. Under normal use, the anode rod will deteriorate. I you bought your rv used, check to see if it is an Atwood or a Suburban WH. If it's a Atwood, it doesn't need an anode as it has a Aluminum water tank that doesn't rust out. Sometimes folks will stick a anode rod in an Atwood, not realizing that it actually doesn't need one!
I believe the anode rod will be of ZINC, as it is softer than steel and is what the anodes are made of. IF it is an Atwood it IS a MAGNESIUM anode. You cannot get the two mixed up because the Atwood has a smaller drain hole than the Suburban heater has, thus the pipe threaded portion will either screw in or not screw in.
I stand corrected: There ARE aluminum rods for Suburban heaters.

RE: Can workampers rate their experience?

Only thing i have found is Workamper news lets you praise your employer which i think is very unfair.I personally had an experience with a bad employer and cannot warn others of it.I have even considered canceling my subscription because they are one sided.
I know, welcome to the internet. The internet is predominantly about being one sided. You have to dig deep in order to find truths, has been my experience.

RE: Hot Water Heater Problem

Mine did the same after going to a carwash for the exterior cleaning. I found that the little grounding terminal with a nut on it (for the two gas shutoff solenoids) needed a cleaning. I unscrewed the nut from the terminal and then wire brushed the nut and stud as well as the ring terminal on the short wire. When replaced the gas solenoids made a solid thud when the switch inside to turn on the WH was activated. I hope your problem is as simple as this.

RE: new to me

Compartment cover is different than the actual cover on the generator?
Not familiar with the 5500 but on my 4000 it states not to run with the actual generator cover (green color with 2 latches)removed HOWEVER in really hot weather without a breeze blowing, I open the EXTERIOR COMPARTMENT cover in order to let additional cool air in towards the generator air inlet

Crime in Rio Grande Valley, Texas

Hi I am thinking of going to the Southern most tip of Texas for the winter season. I will be working about 3 days a week or so.
I have never been to the Rio Grande Valley so am not sure what to expect period. What does concern me is crime and thieves. I am wondering if any of you members who have spent time in this area have had any problem with theft, vandalism or any crime in general?
Thank you for your input so that I may make a more informed decision

RE: Official Honeywell Generator thread..talk about em here!

seeing the light? sorry i'm not ready to go out and spend $900+ for a 2000ui
Honeywell is know BRAND name, and re-branded products are all over the consumer industry.
MY luck has been unforunate and I will NO longer whole hardily endorse this generator,
they do NOT seem to have the sturdiness & quality to be 'daily users' , i have about 120 hrs on it. and it malfunctioned.
IF & WHEN the $$ can be budgeted, Honda yammy or something else might be in consideration, BUT NOT anytime soon
better for it to DIE on me than somebody that does NOT have another option for generator use. at least i still have power available.
and i can give an HONEST answer when i say "I tried them and had problems" instead of saying "all Chinese is junk" buy red buy blue
after I finished reading your paragraph, It appears you 'saw the light' too LOL:@ :W

RE: Ford V-10 mileage

10 mpg for me with a 2000 E350 Minnie 24ft V10. I dont tow but am at max GVW. About 8 mpg or less in city driving. I once got 12 mpg last year going uphill in Colorado for a 100 mile stretch. Last year when gas was around 4 dollars per gallon I would get gas at every station it seemed like in order to fill up for 50 dollars or so vs nearly 200 dollars when I let it go down near empty.

RE: Wally World batteries any good?

I purchased two group 24 batteries from WM earlier this year to replace two Interstate group 24 batteries and was surprised that the WM batteries were about 5 pounds each, HEAVIER than the Interstates. Maybe more lead inside.

RE: Background checks...... Fingerprints?

If you want to work for my company i will deduct from your first pay $40 for the back ground check that we run. If this comes back negative, and you still want to work for me you will be asked to go to the police and be fingerprinted and have a second background check done at your expense. I will them decide whether or not I will hire you.
This is the way of the world. I need to protect my clients from bad people.
How does it feel to work by your self ?
Your sarcastic and unnecessary comment aside, I would rather imagine that in this economy, he has all the hired help he needs and probably has more waiting to apply.
:R So what made your comment necessary? You had nothing to contribute.
To the OP,I volunteered for the Oregon BLM this summer and was given a joint position with the BLM and the County that I was staying in. The County even provided me with a pickup truck/gas card that I kept at my campsite for the 3+ month duration of my volunteer position. I was only required to have a background check, no fingerprinting. BC was not at my expense.
