RE: Getting rid of the onboard generator

Why not, if your not using it, get rid of it! If I were looking at a used MH without a generator, wouldn't stop me from buying it, no problem installing one. How much does it weigh? 200lb? Why carry around that much wt. your not using.20 pounds?? Are you kidding?

RE: Phaeton Tail LIght

Get the number off the tail light and Google it. Everyon uses some common light fixture. Once you get the year and model of the original vehicle that the fixture was designed for you can look online for cheap sources.

RE: The old girl is back - where to start

It's going to be a long few weeks :) Agreed. Maybe several bunches of long few weeks. Good Luck! Once you finish you will only have the routine weekly maintenance. Remember, if you are not working on your RV then you are falling behind!! :)

RE: a/c belt keeps breaking

Sounds like your compressor is seized. When you turn on the AC the clutch engages and with a seized compressor it tries to stop the belt. The 454 will win the battle and the belt will be toast.

RE: Seal Clearance Marker Lights That Are Leaking??

How old are your clearance lights. They really take a beating in the sun and need to be replaced every few years. The lense will crack and leak and eventually the base will crack and leak. Have you climbed up and looked at what is going on?? Usually it is obvious once you get up close and personal.

RE: Onan generator

Take it to a Onan shop. It might save you money in the long run if all you can do is throw parts at it.

RE: Hydronic Zone Heating

There is also a Yahoo Group dedicated to the systems. A wealth of information is available.

RE: help me spend 85k on used dp 2004vor better

I assume you have a hard reason for limiting yourself to 32-34 feet. You will certainly be compromising ride, handling, and selection. For 85K there are excellent high quality, tag axle, diesel pusher coaches available, some starting at 38 feet. Driving a gently used 38 foot tag axle diesel pusher will be light years ahead of a 32-34 foot front engine unit. But I guess size matters.

RE: First Time Buyer (Class A)

You can get a really, really nice diesel pusher for just under 100K if you don't mind buying a 4-5 year old unit. You could even buy a two slide Monaco Dynasty for that kind of money. If you have to have new, you will be sacrificing quality. The first few years’ depreciation on a new Class A is huge.

RE: Newbie looking for advice

Actually drive any coach you are interested in. Don't think you need to be ready to close a deal before driving. Drive at highway speeds with passing trucks and drive in breezy conditions. A drive in real world conditions will tell you a lot about a coach. One coach may be all shiny and nice on the inside but handle like a pig on the road. All that glitters is not gold. The more units you drive, the better your evaluations will be. Don't buy the first coach you drive - or the second - or the third. You may go back to that first coach and buy it, but hopefully only after a lot of comparisons.

RE: Turbo Boost Pressure?

Yaj, If your normal maximum boost is around 25 PSI go with a 0-60 or 0-50 if available. All pressure or vacuum gauges are calibrated and accurate in the center 50 to 60% of the gauge range. If you run a 0-30 gauge the chance for inaccuracy is about 12% at 25 psi. Never run a gauge pegged. This just adds to the inaccuracy of the gauge. RandyAbsolutely Correct!

RE: Koni FSD Question

On our DP I changed to FSD and they do a very good job with the jarring transition on interstate bridges, pot holes, etc. That initial jolt is now much tamer. I'm happy with our switch.

RE: Shocks for DP - where to buy?

Look here Many folks are happy with Koni FSD shocks on their RV. I certainly am.

RE: DUAL USE OF PROPANE TANK

I use the Camping World kit and had a long hose made up so I could position the grill anywhere I wanted. Like one person said, be sure to hook up the adapter between the LP tank and the RV's pressure regulator, not after the regulator. You may need a few adapters to get the hose fitting reduced to the size of the propane appliance used. I can connect our grill and our "campfire in a can" directly to the large propane tank and not bother with the small tanks. I do not leave the hose connected to avoid any possibility of a leak developing. The hose connection is very easy to attach and I can have everything up and running in a couple of minutes.

RE: coach batterys have clean up

As your batteries age they will gradually resist accepting a charge and will need more and more charging which results in greater water loss. If you've ever let the water level get too low, that will also weaken the batteries, increasing the process. Either your batteries are getting very weak or the inverter/charger has begun over charging them. Either way, it is a condition that needs to be addressed. I recommend that you check the battery water level and have them load tested or check each cell's specific gravity at a minimum. If the batteries check out OK, then take a close look at the inverter/charger.
