RE: Battery Disconnect

Bud, It is a spring that holds (basically a washer) the contacts together. Electrically moves and rotates each time you connect or disconnect. It does then just holds that position untill you hit the switch. They KIB use a large spring to hold it in position. He says that he thinks without seeing it that the spring was loose causing it to get hot and ruin the spring. Now of coarse today after many times trying to get it to work it stopped working all together. I think when I get the new one I will try (because I always do) take it apart and see if I can repair it for a spare. You may be completely right and I could fix it but just in case I think I want a new one. Thanks for you advise in any case.

RE: Battery Disconnect

Well after talking to tech support from KIB electonics they believe the spring had worn out causing it to loose contact. Now it just burned up getting hot. I wired out the disconnect by moving top wire to hot side and everything works, I just can't disconnect battery now. Thanks bud by the way, the pic of the switch helped me see what it did and how it worked. Just have to wait two days for new part to get here. I think as a just in case I will replace the batteries at the same time. Have to thank tech at KIB too, he walked me thru troubleshooting over the phone.

RE: Battery Disconnect

Tested the battery disconnected and it read 13.1, a little low but OK. Did the same connected and same volts. The batteries do work, I just know they need to be replaced, they will run things for 6 to 8 hours but that is with nothing running. They used to last 3 days with nothing running.
Now I just need to find part numbers. I have the part number for the relay circuit board but can't find it on the relay switch. I will post when I get parts and if were back in business. No 12 means no furnace and it gets in the 30's this week again and were getting snow again.

RE: Battery Disconnect

OK bud, thanks, I jumped across the two large terminals and everything came on. So I guess now I need to figure out what the part number is of both and go buy them. I am in Gallup NM and there not much here so I will have to drive to Alb 3 hours away to get parts. Don't want to do it twice so I will buy both I guess.

RE: Battery Disconnect

Bud yeh thats what I meant jumper the two large terminals. According to the test of the diagram if on I should be reading 0 volts across terminals. I am reading 12volts across so I take it that means the switch is off.

RE: Battery Disconnect

If I jump out the switch that should tell me if the switch is out and not working correct?

RE: Battery Disconnect

Bud,can't find a part # on it but it does look like the second one 5300066. I disconnected the battery, reset the converter and still no joy. One thing I am now noticing is that the when you push the bat. disconnect switch now I do not hear it switching anymore. I bypassed the mom. switch using just the wires touched together. I get a spark but still no switching sound. My prints do not anything about this section of 12v system.

RE: Battery Disconnect

I was kinding of thinking the same thing with low volts. So you think the batt could be discharging the inverted??

Battery Disconnect

I have a 06 sportcoach 372ds. Last night I started having this problem where if I or anything using 12v turns on it shuts downs the system completely. I have to go to the front and hit the momentary switch for coach battery to re-engage power. Once on if the furnace kicks on or I turn on a 12v light the relay kicks off again. Once on if nothing changes seems that it will stay on most of the time.
Couple of things, I know the batteries need to be changed (house batt), they are getting low and do not hold a charge for more than a couple of hours.
Any ideas guys. I am going to start troubleshooting this morning as soon as I finish my coffee.

RE: direct tv install question????

DNS distant network station, You get the ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and Pbs from New york and Los Angles. You can get it if one of your receivers is in an rv, or the only one. Fulltimers use because we are never in one location for very long and we don't have to bother calling directv to change locations.

RE: Jacks Won't Lower.

My Coachman sportcoach 372 ds rear slide also uses that reservior. I had a leak there in the hose under the slide and the battery compartment.

RE: Best Way to Heat the RV

I know what you mean. My temp control is in the middle of the coach, most of the heat loss is from windshield area (for me), causing it to get colder in the middle where we sit before furnace kicks on. I put the electric heater near the front and turn it to blow heat toward the windshield. This helps to even out the heat loss for the whole front so the temp doesnt' get so cold up fromt before the furnace kicks on.
And I agree with temp control being placed further south, that always works for me, although we are sitting in Gallup NM right now and it gets cold at night.

RE: Travel Nursing

We've been full-timing and doing travel nursing for 3 years now. We've been from Fl to Seattle and from Tucson to Maine and have never regretted our jump into this lifestyle. I have used NovaPro for 3 years and Kristen Hunt has always gone out of her way to find the nearest campground, the closest lab corp., and where I might need to get fingerprints for the necessary licenses. I get travel reimbursement, housing and living allowences, and reimbursement for licenses or manditory certifications ie: ACLS, BLS, or PALS.

RE: Digital TV reception using "batwing" antenna ??

Seeing the sights, Yeh I did buy the batwing. Problem was that I bought it when I had the bad connection so I don't know if it helped or not. Now here in Gallup NM there is no TV over the air, you need cable.

RE: Digital TV reception using "batwing" antenna ??

I was having the same problem, was staying in Palm Bay Fl and closest stations were in Melbourne. Had bad reception even with the new digital tv. So I climbed up on the rv and took the cable off batwig. Checked for 12volts, was only getting 6volts. Discovered I had a loose cable from the selector box going to batwig. Tighen up cable rechecked 12 volts at batwig, rescaned and went from 6 channels to 40 channels. Also I did the hook up on old tv's with converter box between the ant and selector and fried my box so yeh don't do that if you have old tv's.

RE: ECU fault on my 06 cummins 300hp ISB

Yeh Mike thats what I thought. Still waiting to hear back from Freightliner. If they get a no, I will start with cummins myself. We did make it to Gallup without any more problems. Everything seems to work, I'm a little concerned about the "Wait to start light" not always coming on. Seems like it used to come on for a sec at least most of the time, I know it doesn't if everything is warmed up right? Seems sometimes like after sitting for a couple of hours it will not come on, or one day it came on the first time I started in the morning and then did not come on again the rest of the day.
Anyway, thanks again guys, have a great day
