RE: lazyday RV

I guess the local (Tampa) news media has it all wrong then. A week or two ago, they announced that Lazydays had filed chapter 11.

RE: Camping World

Don't know what's going to happen to CW, but I hope it's good. Interestingly enough, I was in the Seffner store last week and it is the first time I have ever seen complete rows of empty shelves in the store. Also, no one at the service counter. A person was assigned to it, but they were out in the store handling merchandise at the time. Perhaps that is what's needed. Multi-tasking employees and a leaner inventory due to today's economics.
I still like going in a browsing though and probably will continue to do so as long as the doors are open.

RE: How fast do you tow?

60 MPH for me also. Best economy and I feel safer at this speed or below.

RE: AmpHours???

Short answer without writing a novel. Amp hours needed will depend on what you use off battery power and for how long. 1 amp per hour equals 1 amp hour. If you use 100 amps per hour, then you use 100 amp hours.
As far as selecting a battery, I suggest you get the one with the highest amp hour and reserve rating that you have room for. More batteries hooked in series equals more amp hours available. Many people suggest using golf cart batteries and hooking parallel due to their amp hour ratings, discharge profile, and reserve capacity. I personally use two 105 ah marine batteries hooked in series and have been very satisfied with their performance.
If you search here on batteries, you'll find more than you care to read.
Yep, you're right. Had an old timer's moment. Seems like that's happening more with each turn of the calendar.
Uhhh, I think you have the series/parallel reversed, Series increases voltage and parallel keeps the same voltage and increases amps.
Check HERE for a diagram.

RE: Converter Location

Open the passenger side front storage compartment door and look to the left at the wall that goes all the way across. There should be some screws that might be hard to see. This should denote a removeable panel and your converter should be behind this panel. This should hold true if the battery compartment is just past the compartment door toward the rear of the coach. If it is not here, look around for the battery door and the converter should be just behind it. This should give you some idea of its general location. Then just start looking for removeable panels.
I had the same problem with my Wilderness fiver until I decided I was going to find the converter come heck or high water. Took a bit but I found it.

RE: Towing speed for a fifth wheel

I've found that 60mph with my rig is just right. I just let all the hot dogs pass me by.

RE: florida state parks

I'm a Florida resident and I don't believe I ever got a break on campground rates. The only break I would like is to get to use my SPs during the winter months!!
I second that!!!
Also, Florida residents pay the same as everybody else. We just don't get to use them as much.

RE: Silver River SP Ocala Fl

Boy! Now you've done it. Just had to spread the word didn't ya? Hard enough to get a reservation there in the fall and winter now. When this makes the rounds, we'll never get to go back. Darn!!
All joking aside, Silver River is my favorite destination within 100 miles from home. Go there as much as I can.

RE: WDW Fort Wilderness - Bugs and Mosquitoes

Love bugs come in May and September usually. As for mosquitoes, they will be here in clouds. Make sure you bring plenty of bug spray or you'll be itching till you leave. Disney does what they can to lessen the problem, but in Florida in the summertime, the skeeters usually win.

RE: extra stability

I don't think I would. With the truck, the hitch is locked in and is unlikely to move. Not so with the tripod. Any movement at all would not be good. If it were to drop on the front stabilizers you would have another repair to do.

RE: back-up mirror

The cheapest and easiest way to do this is to glue a piece of clothes hanger into a 1" or larger magnet. Mount to the front of your hitch and bend so it is vertical. When satisfied with alignment, paint the wire white.
When you're ready to hook up, place the unit on the front of the hitch and back right up. Works great and costs nothing.
Note -- This can also be used behind the pin hole to make sure you don't back too far.

RE: Ticks

Something I've used all my life that works for ticks and redbugs (chiggers to our northern neighbors) is to dust a bit of sulfur on my boots, sock tops, and lower pant legs.
Now this won't work so well if you are in deep brush where the little buggers can get on your upper body, but it keeps them from crawling up your legs.

RE: What to coat rubber roof with ?

Camping World or most RV suppliers have a liquid rubber product for this purpose. Basically adds a new layer of rubber over the roof. Also covers most spots. You might give this a try.

RE: Bubbling Front 24M Wilderness TT

I'm currently repairing an area on my Wilderness fiver with the same problem. Didn't have a roof leak though. Mine was wicked up from the trim that is supposed to seal the right front. Fortunately I was able to open the area up and let it dry for a week and then coated all the wood with West penetrating epoxy. This stabilized the wood and this weekend I'll be contact cementing the fiberglass back to the wood.
Not a fun job.

RE: water filters

I have both. I have the large one outside at the water inlet and one under the sink that filters water to a drinking water spout. Costs a bit to replace the elements, but my drinking water is double filtered even though that was not my primary intent.
The under sink unit was installed at the factory.

RE: Luan and construction

Yep, the newer ones are just as poorly built. I'm in the process of repairing some delamination on a sidewall myself as we speak. My fiver is a 2004 and has been well cared for by me since new. The water intrusion was not at the top of the wall, but at the bottom because a trim piece captured the water even though it was sealed with silicone, and the luan wicked the water up to the wonderful particle board backer.
I had a devil of a time finding the source of the problem.
As others have stated, go to Lowes, HD, or another building supply and get luan door skin.
