RE: In-bed vs. bumper mounted connector plug

I have always owned GM Trucks and all the 1 ton DRW all were bought with the $35.00 option which was and additional hard wire that was just above the drivers side on the frame rail. I always mounted the connector just inside the Truck bed as close to the rear tailgate. But I always had a need for the connector on the rear bumper. I also have a Car Trailer that is towed off the receiver. I would recomend the in-bed plug. But I would mount it to the rear of the Truck bed, for safety reasons, you never have to put your arm between the Truck bed rail and the front of the 5th wheel. GBY...

RE: Double Towing in Florida

Its a mental thing for the poeple who make the laws, and have never towed anything in most cases. We double tow and just double towed in and around Ala for the last 4 + months in Ala. But didn't have in issues. We will avoid the States if we get a ticket. Double towing isn't for everyone, but most make their little comments. But again if the States ever start giving Tickets for being over weight RV's the States coffers will fill up. And yes the commerical Trucks are under different regulations. If all RVer's were require to have a Commerical Lic (CDL) the States could make a ton of money. And if they ever think about making RVer's get tested, just think of all the money they could make. It cost me several hundred dollar at each renewal time to maintain my Commerical Lic. (CDL) but thats my choice. GBY...

RE: It Seems to Always be about Weather

The climate has been changing for hundreds of years and will continue, and that was long before the Combustion engine. We left Gulf Shores a month early because its been cold there all winter. The coldest weather in 25 years, and will go West next winter. And we did something we had only did one time bdfore and that was drive straight thru. We normally go 250 miles and stop for the night. But they were calling for Snow and we want move in Snow. However its a major difference in comfort when you riding on Air, seats, cab and suspension. Weather is a constant change, and will continue until mother earth decides to shake us off like fleas. Just stay a few days longer. GBY....

RE: WARNING!! Don't Try To Stop At This Walmart

We do no Wally Docking, however we do stop at Wally World to restock, but most of the time we wait to the end of the day to go to Wally World. But I have been in most every State and been in hundreds of Wally Worlds and have never ever not been able to get into the Parking lots. All of the Wally Worlds have a Truck entrance, and a dock to off load their Trucks, all of Wally World drivers have a 13.6 trailer. But I agree it should have been marked. I recomend taking a close look before entering. And I have been known to ask someone to help be back out of those situations including Police. I really don't believe a good LEO would give you a hard time, and for sure if it wasn't marked. We double tow and have to really be careful entering places, we can't back-up with the Toad behind the 5er. Really just another day for the RVer's. Some are better than others. Good Luck. GBY...

RE: Grafitti is not Art, in my humble opinion..anyways

Grafitti is not Art, your very correct. There is literally thousands of dollars spent every year trying to clean up the Grafitti that few think is Art. Most of the taggers steal the paint, and they are Criminals and should be put away. A true Artist wouldn't paint this JUNK on someone elses property. Lock them up. Its you TAXes that are paying to repair all the damages done by the Taggers. GBY....

RE: First Long Tow With New 2010 6.4 Ford PSD

I believe he is talking about the fuel island at the Truck stops. The primary pump will be on the drivers side. Most all Class 8 Trucks have two fuel tanks. My Freightliner has two 80 gal fuel tanks one on each side. The primary pump fills the drivers side and the sattelite pump fills the passenger side. You must first put the credit card in the primary pump side and or call the fuel desk with the phone and give the fuel desk the info and then remove the pump handle and lay it on the pump island and go to the sattelite pump and fill your Truck. If you have a fuel tank on each side you can fill them both at the same time. Thats good fuel mileage on the Super Duty 6.4 most of the Super Dutys don't get that good of mileage from what I have read on other forums. Good Luck. Diesel is the only way to go. GBY.... P.S. Don't fill bad about getting help with the Sattelite pumps. Lots of poeple need help. Some just want admit it.

RE: Ever run into fellow posters????

We run into RV.Net people all the time. This past winter we met many who are on RV.Net while we were in Gulf Shores. Makes a person feel good when someone tell you they enjoy reading your post because of being very straight forward. I try very hard to never post something I haven't done and on opinion about equipment I have use. In hopes of saving someone money and or time. I get e-mails and comments from people who has used my comments or suggestions every week. GBY....

RE: 5th wheel to gooseneck

As for the warranty, really don't think that there will be a issue on a 1993 model 5th wheel. As for the Gooseneck adapter, I have seen many 5th wheels using the Gooseneck adapter on Mobile Suites, Montana's, Carriage, just to name a few. However I don't think I would use the Gooseneck adapter. I also have a Gooseneck equipment trailer and the design is different from the hitch on a 5th wheel. I also have owned the B&W system and I do believe it to be the best system on the market, for a static hitch. Had to go to the Trailer Saver because I needed more capacity for towing, the B&W was only 18,000 lbs, I went to the Trailer Saver TSB2H 32,000 lb capacity. I believe the cheapest thing for your set up is to look at the Trailer Saver Low Pro 5th wheel hitch with the Holland Binkley Head hitch it is the bolt on hitch. Its a none air ride hitch, and if you want the best the Trailer Saver air ride hitch is the best for the money. GBY....

RE: Alright Already

We feel your pain, we came home again this year a Month early. Gulf Shores had one of the coldest winters in 25 years. We were in Gulf Shores and Florida in 2008/2009 and it was cold also. We are going West next year (Arizona). GBY...

RE: ALERT!!! HUGE TOYOTA RECALL!!!!!!

Well I really don't have the answer for Toyota owners. But what has happened so for would for sure not keep me from buying a Toyota. Toyota unlike the American Big 3 is building Cars and Trucks in America. Much of the Big 3 have moved South because of Labor cost. At least Toyota is employing several thousand Americans. Something isn't right about how this situation has happened to Toyota, something smells. DW predicted about two weeks ago Honda would be next and what happened this week. Good Luck to Toyota. GBY...

RE: GM is spending $$$

Looks like a great looking Truck. If GM will keep building TRUCKS and not build those electric junk stuff GM will be around. The big issues is OIL, which started the down turn to begin with. But of course we know we have unknown amounts of OIL. We just need to DRILL. But thats just to much common sense !!!! GBY....

RE: Manufactures that install quality tires, offer upgrades.

The answer is get rid of the China made tires. Its very well known that they are having a high failure rate. Again make sure you have good Insurance if you insist on running China Bombs. GBY....

RE: Is it any more difficult to point a HD dish.....

We have set up the Slim Line (5 LNB) in many different States. The key to set up is the Tri-Pod. If the Tri-Pod is level and you know the Elevation, Skew etc, set up is easy. We have Direct-Tv which in my opinion is much less problems in set up. We now have a Traveler 3 roof mounted and works great just push a button and you have HDTV. Keep in mind you must have a clear view of the Southern sky. Again in my opinion you must have a good Tri-Pod not flimsy ones. GBY...

RE: Manufactures that install quality tires, offer upgrades.

The last 3 5th wheels we have owned have came standard with the Gooddyear G614's. The 5th wheel we now have came standard with Goodyear 6114's on 17.5" wheels with 8,000 axles. I still believe any 5th wheel over 34' should have G614's as standard equipment. There is no doubt in my mind that the manufactors do know that the tires from China are a real issue. But they are still looking at it as a cost issue. And they also know that many RVers don't run a lot of miles the first year. But if your going to run the China Bombs make sure you have good insurance to repair all the damage to the wheel wells on the 5er. Its not if the China Bombs will fail but when. Just over the winter I seen three 5th wheels with major damage, all had China Bombs from the factory. GBY...

RE: high mileage SD - 34 mpg

As for fuel mileage, 30 + mpg in a 1 ton Truck???? I don't believe the average driver of a 1 ton Diesel will get 30 + mpg. Even though it appears that Ford did shed lots of weight. As for rear axle numbers GM has used the 3.73 rear gear for several years and it works fine. I do believe that GM has made very critical changes, really just improvements on a proven combo of the Duramax/Allison and I don't believe that a GM 1 ton will get 30 + mpg. We all know the Ford Super Duties haven't done well at all with fuel mileage. And Ford has tried very hard to change that, just maybe they can. But I have never bought a Truck for towing a heavy 5th wheel and expected to get great fuel mileage, however I'm very satisfied with the mileage I'm getting with my Freightliner, it does as well as my 1 ton GM 3500HD's and it is heavy 14,060 vs the 1 ton 3500HD 8,560. And the FL has a 4.30 rear gear, but it has the big Allison 6 speed. GBY...

RE: Doubt about runaway Prius story

I think everyone should take a deep breath. There is a lot of questions about this person who has made this claim. I believe he is just trying to get money from Toyota in some way. If you had seen the front of the Toyota it really had no damage to the front bumper. If he had been slowed down by the Troopers patrol car there would have been damage. Every accident with a Toyota, the blame will be on Toyota. Many people in todays world want something for nothing and never except blame, its always someone else to blame. It strange that Toyota's sales were up 50% the first week of Mar. GBY...
