RE: Recommended trailer weight for a 2002 Pathfinder

Hi Fordlover ! If Trailer Theresa can't climb a 8% grade at more than 30 mph with a 3,500# TT and his Explorer V8, I woulnd't be surprise that his differential ratio is only 3.23. I think that the 3.73 come with the OEM towing pkg. In my case, yes, my tranny is a 4 speed and I nerver tow with OD on.

RE: Recommended trailer weight for a 2002 Pathfinder

Trailer Theresa, What is your differential ratio ? The Pathfinder 2002 OEM ratio is 4.36 !!! I was able to climb a 15% grage (2 miles long) in second gear at 30 mph around the Gaspe Peninsula here in Quebec without any problem. Don't forget that the Nissan V6 3.5 Litres and the 4.0 L engines has a LOT of torque at fairly low RPM. In my case (3.5 L), it's 265 #-ft at 3,400.

TT wind deflector ?

Hi everyone ! I can't remember if I saw it here or somewhere else... It was a wind deflector that was built as an add-on to the front of the trailer. It was made of aluminium poles and plastic or fiberglass panels and it was fix to the front of the TT. It was also made to be install and removed easily. Here is a sketch of it. Anyone remember ? http://pub.edu-groupe.qc.ca/com-100105/mont-tremblant/photos%20claude/travel%20trailer%20wind%20deflector.jpg

RE: Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake hits HAITI REGION

This resume all the situation in Haïti (from a Montreal newspaper yesterday) http://pub.edu-groupe.qc.ca/com-100105/mont-tremblant/photos%20claude/_resize_picture_portal.jpg (january is janvier in french) Stop judging, just give ! We will have PLENTY of time to talk after... We just don't know how lucky we are to be born on the right place on this planet.

RE: Best SUV v6 for towing?

Another very interesting option for the original poster, Marimon, would be a JEEP Grand Cherokee V6 turbo diesel. The Mercedes 3 L turbo-diesel is no more available for 2010 but he may find a 2008 or 2009 with low millage. This V6 diesel has more pulling power than any small V8 and it's also the more fuel efficient.

RE: Best SUV v6 for towing?

One thing is absolutely sure for me. For a fulltimer, I would never choose a hybrid TT with canvas. For your vehicule, a Pathfinder 4 litres V6 will give you all the power and reliability that you are looking for.

RE: What in the world were they thinkng

There are a lot of assumptions made by many people here. Is it at all possible, that it was something totally and completely out of the driver's control? Like so many things in life, when something happen, the one's who talks don't know and the one's who know's, don't talk...

RE: EazLift pictures anyone?

That has NOTHING to do with sway! That is a properly set up hitch. If the truck is squatted 4". then he had NO steering control... Well, call it wathever ou want, I don't care, but no steering control due to an improper hitch set-up will result wit a sway problem (or unstable or watherever you want to call it, sir...) And a sway control device is necessary to help you in an extreme situation, not to correct an unstable combo due to improper TT loading or hitch set-up or ???.

RE: EazLift pictures anyone?

A WD system does very little to control sway Sorry Skip but I don't agree. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine baught a 25' Flagstaff TT and tow it with a 2005 Pathfinder. When he got out of the TT dealer, the WD hitch was so badly tune that he was not able to go more than 40 mph without almost loosing control of the combo even with the sway bar. The rear of the Path was squatting by about 4" and the front was up by 2". I just tuned the WD hitch as it is supposed to be and the combo was stable as an arrow even at 75 mph.

RE: Do you think a Tahoe can pull our 26 foot TT?

If a V8 Tahoe can't pull a 26' TT, tell me why I was able to pull my 25' 4,200# loaded TT with my Pathfinder 3.5 L V6 for the last 7 years with absolutely no trouble at all... :? Doe's the GM engines has "Pony power" instead of "Horse power ? :@

RE: the little truck that could

C'mon !!! I don't get it... Nope, I don't think you do. :R Some folks just think that the size of the truck is proportional to the size of the brain...

RE: Tiedowns and Hurricane Bill

I would be worried but not panic. The storm will hit Nova-Scotia before NF, so it will loose strenght and will probably be just a good tropical storm especially with cold water in your area. Good luck and let us know when it will be over. http://www.intellicast.com/Storm/Hurricane/Active.aspx?storm=2&type=track

RE: Practical towing with a Toyota Highlander 3.5

You know, back in 2002, if I would listen to so many coments here when I baught my 2003 Pathfinder, I would have stay with a "VERY SMALL POP-UP" (read, get yourself a REAL truck like a F250 or better...). I'm in my 7 th seasons now with my rig and still very, very satisfied with it so far. ;)
