RE: Where to buy replacement square drive screws

I remember watching a show about Robertson and why the Robertsons socket head was beat out by the inferior Philips socket head. Basically, he wouldn't license Ford to make his own Robertson screws and tools, so Ford bought the Philips instead. Therefor, the American market (10 x bigger than the Canadian) only used Philips, because a Philips screwdriver came with every Model T.Check your memory....
Robertson Screw
In 1908, square-drive screws were invented by Canadian P. L. Robertson. Twenty-eight years before Henry Phillips patented his Phillips head screws, which are also square-drive screws. The Robertson screw is considered the "first recess-drive type fastener practical for production usage." The design became a North American standard, as published in the sixth edition of Industrial Fasteners Institute Metric and Inch Standards. A square-drive head on a screw can be better than a slot head because the screwdriver will not slip out of the screw's head during installation. The Model T car made by the Ford Motor Company (one of Robertson's first customers) used over seven hundred Robertson screws.

I didn't realize the Model T was produced in the 30's.It wasn't.
Ford Model T made 1909 - 1927.

RE: Transfer Music on iPod Touch to PC??

Sounded good but after downloading it, it tells me that its only free for 40 days. Too bad.I didn't see any mention of the 40 days but certainly could have missed it. Per CNET, it's cost & hassle free. Guess time will tell.

RE: Transfer Music on iPod Touch to PC??

Got an answer on a Packer forum I follow - it led me to SharePod. It was recommended by CNET so figured it was good. Free download so I gave it a go. Great product! My library is now on my new laptop in iTunes.
Thanks for the comments.

Transfer Music on iPod Touch to PC??

Is there a way to transfer the music FROM my iPod Touch TO iTunes on a new laptop running Windows Vista?
The music in the iPod was "sync'ed" from my old laptop which is no longer working correctly (I can't get iTunes to open, it doesn't find the iTunes folder in My Music).
I downloaded iTunes onto my new laptop. Seems to come with sample music. If I connect my iPod & select sync, it gives me 2 options: (a) transfer iTunes music to iPod (which I think would wipe out my music, or at the least but on a bunch of stuff I don't want) or (b) transfer downloads/purchases from the iTunes store onto the iPod (& I certainly don't want to buy all the existing music I currently have on the iPod).
So I'd like to get the iPod music copied to iTunes on my laptop.
I found something called CopyToy. Claims to be a free download but I see some forum talk in CNET that claims it runs $19.95/month & it's difficult to cancel. Any other good options, preferably free & not loaded with viruses?
Thanks in advance for any & all advice.

RE: Where to buy replacement square drive screws

Just got back from a southern trip in my new TT. I had some square head screws come out on the cabinet fixtures, probably from vibration. I replaced them with the common blade screw head. I like to keep things simple, don't want to take a special tool just to tighten a screw. We all have the blade/Phillips screwdrivers with us because everything else uses them. You must not own any bit kits because everyone I've seen has square drive in them. Personally, I swap flat/phillips screws with square drive whenever I have the chance.

RE: Buy land for weekending?

Problem is that it'd trigger my status as a first time home buyer and I'd lose it for when I did finally feel ready to move from where I am now. The current first time home buyer's incentive expires sometime in the not-to-distant future (& you must close on the deal by 7/1/10) so don't assume there will be something similar when you're ready to buy. Good luck in your quest.

RE: Quiet Generator for 21' FunFinder X-210WBS

. . . we have been advised to purchse/invest in a nice, quiet generator . . .Only needed if you plan to do lots of boondocking. If you'll be in CGs with electric, you can probably save your $$.

RE: Several Questions about pup's etc.

1) Use plywood or a 2"x6" under the feet.
2) I wouldn't run it.
3) Cool it on 12V while on the road. Or pre-cool the fridge & contents a day or 2 before you leave, it should remain cool for the better part of a day (unless it's really hot outside).
4) Tekonsha Prodigy.
5) RV dealer, Camping World.
6) I would assume so but don't know for sure.

RE: Fastway "Flip" Automatic Jack Foot

I agree, good idea but the price is way out of line. I might spend $25 on it but certainly wouldn't consider $50. I'll keep using my Lynx Levelers when I need a little more height.Funny stuff. A quick Google shows Lynx Levelers going for ~ $30. If you're so tight with the money, why not just use some lumber most everybody has hanging around?

RE: Conect the water hose ends or not? Which is Best?

I use the breathable water Storage Caps to keep the bugs out.I'm not sure how you get breathable out of that link.....
I'm with rvten, I don't know where all these bugs are coming from. I'm willing to bet this is one of those internet perpetuated stories - one guy writes about bugs & now they're all over.
I drained my hose, coiled it up & put it in a bucket under the dinette. Never a problem & I'd rather the hose dried out.

RE: Would you miss Saturday home mail delivery?

Ask any postal worker how great a job it is at the USPS today compared to the past. Each worker is doing 50% more work for the same pay.Welcome to private industry. My pay was cut 10% 9 months ago & I'm putting in 10-14 hour days. Any postal workers wanna trade?
